TeeFury and Stabb Collaborate for Charity

It’s a great thing whenever people in the tee community help each other out. The people at tee-a-day site TeeFury have teamed up with Stabb Clothing to help raise money for charity.

In a recent post on the Stabb blog, Stabb founder Ryan Grandmaison, mentioned the recent cancer diagnosis of a good friend and bandmade (Something for Nothing) of his. He has also been posting regular updates about his friend so be sure to check those out on the Stabb blogs.

TeeFury recently reached out to Grandmaison and offered to collaborate with the up-an-coming tee brand to create a tee with the help of the indie tee community. Grandmaison (aka as RustyEight) posted about the collaboration on the Emptees forum:

As most of you know by now, my buddy and guitarist Ben has been fighting Burkitt’s Lymphoma for the past few months and thanks to you guys we’ve raised a bunch of money and some clothes.

Wotto approched me the other day with an idea on how to raise some more, via TeeFury . TeeFury Collab! Alphabet Edition!

What’s the idea? Every designer signs up to design 1 letter (capital). If we have enough people(52) we’ll do both capital and lower case. Keep it at 3 Colors.

The shirt will then go up on TeeFury for sale sometime in in January or February. If you would like to sign up for this huge collab, post the letter you would like. First come first serve. Remember, proceeds will be going to Ben, you will not get paid for it. DEADLINE IS JANUARY 31ST

If you’re interested, then be sure to check out the forum post. You can sign up for a letter there (there are a couple of letters left as of this posting). Good luck to TeeFury and Stabb with this!

Goodie Two Sleeves Princess Unicorn Tee A Hit

This is a pretty cool story – our buddies over at Goodies Two Sleeves recently were reached by NBC to produce some shirts based on a fictional character discussed on NBC sitcom The Office. The character in question is Princess Unicorn (Half Girl, Half Unicorn) and Goodie Two Sleeves was given exclusive access to source material prior to the show airing to help in the creation of Princess Unicorn tees.

Last night’s episode of NBC’s The Office had Dwight pawning these crazy looking dolls and we were excited, because a while back NBC asked us to make a shirt for this episode and gave us access to all sorts of goodies ahead of everyone else. The result? Both of these awesome shirts will be available in an NBC store (or their site) soon. I’m thinking a couple weeks? Just thought I’d fill you in on the deets while the episode was still freshly hilarious in our heads.

Needless to say, the Princess Unicorn tee is now the number one sold item on the NBC online store, its’s an even bigger seller than President Elect Barack Obama’s Yes We Can DVD. Check out this clip from The Office:

Indie Tee Spotlight #13: Zombie Liquorice

Welcome to Indie Tee Spotlight #13! This week we feature the newest brand to enter the horror tee genre – Zombie Liquorice! Zombies are very popular these days, in fact, according to PleaseDressMe, Zombies were the number one searched tee type on their tee search engine. People want their zombies – and Zombie Liquorice delivers!

Brothers Jason and Jeff, founded Zombie Liquorice this past year and opened up shop just a few months ago. They have worked with some great artists, including Dan Mumford and Godmachine. I had the fortunate opportunity to talk with Jason of Zombie Liquorice, he provided some great insight into how Zombie Liquorice came about and who he would like to work with in the future!

Be sure to check out the Zombie Liquorice Online Store – you can buy all of their tees there! Also, if you decide to purchase be sure to use the code: COTYGONZ

Coty: You and Jeff started Zombie Liquorice just a few months, with the online store opening just this past November. When did you and Jeff decide to start a clothing line and what got the both of you interested in starting a new brand?

Jason: We both really wanted to start our own tshirt company, with designs we couldnt find in stores. It also helps we both hate our day jobs ;) Ill never forget checking out Emptees for the first time and saying wow, this stuff is amazing I really want to wear this. So I called Jeff (my brother) asked him to check it out and he had the same reaction. So at that point we started Zombie Liquorice, dont ask me how we ever came up with that name, I think it was a heavy metal band name generator if you can believe it.

Mat Hatter

Coty: You guys obviously love Zombies, so I guess an appropriate question would be to ask what your Top 5 favorite zombie films are.

Jeff:  1. Shaun of the Dead, 2. Evil Dead (all three), 3. Dawn of the Dead, 4. Night of the Living Dead, 5. Cemetery Man.

Coty: Your initial line of tees feature artwork designed by some of the Internets top indie designers like Godmachine, Corefolio, Survival and most recently Dan Mumford. What has it been like to work with these guys? How did you select the initial group of artists to work with? What other designers would you like to work with in the future?

Jason: These designers have all been great to work with. Everyone has been very professional and its been great to pitch them an idea and watch it come to life! Selecting the artists was very easy for us, we just checked out there online portfolios and if both of our mouths hit the floor we hired them! Right now we would both love to get Chad Lenger to do something for us, his style is out of control. Also Horsebites and maybe in due time Alex Pardee! Those are a few we can think of now, there are many more.

When Scorpions Attack

Coty: You’ve been hitting the Internet hard promoting Zombie Liquorice. What have the two of you been doing offline, if any, to promote your line? What marketing technique has best worked so far for Zombie Liquorice?

Jason: Well Offline promoting is hard when you have a day job, most of our sales have been friends and work mates who have said “where can I get that shirt”, however we are going to start trying to work with concert promoters to sell our gear at metal shows. So far the best marketing has been MySpace by far, we have landed over 75% of our sales from myspace traffic, its been incredible and we have GodMachine to thank for the heads up on that.

Undead Comic Books - Kid in a Candy Store

Coty: You recently announced on the Zombie Liquorice blog that your line is now being carried by the German shop Comet Coma. How did you guys hook up with the Comet Coma guys?

Jason: They actually approached us and asked if we would be interested in dealing with them for distribution in Germany. We decided it was definitly worth it, it was just frustrating at times dealing with German customs, they are very strict we found out when it comes to importing Tshirts of all things.

Coty: You currently have five designs available for sale at Zombie Liquorice. Which of these designs has been your best seller so far? I really dig the Mad Hatter tee, which is your favorite Zombie Liquorice tee?

Jason: So far our best seller is a toss up between Lumber Jacked and Gut Eater, the response to these two has been crazy. As far as favorites go Jeff’s fav is Lumber Jacked my personal fav is the new Scorpion tee

10tees – The 10 Best of Everything!

10tees is a great place to find themed collections of tees. They do all the work by thinking of interesting themes (i.e. 10 Star Wars Tees Every Fan Boy Should Have, 10 Funny Tees About Strange Creatures, etc.) and then collect and post on their blog the 10 best shirts from a mix of indie and popular brands. It’s fun to see which shirts make the list and its a great way to find random tees that you would not have know about otherwise!

Be sure to also check out and subscribe to their RSS Feed, a secret birdie told me that you can find some goodies in there, like handy dandy coupons! And if you’re like me, always looking for people to add on Twitter, then go ahead and follow 10tees on Twitter to stay up-to-date on everything 10tees.

The Meaning of Life

The Meaning of Life an amazingly designed tee by designer Aled Lewis (aka as fatheed), a frequent submitter to Threadless who has had his designs printed many times before. If you’re unfamiliar with his designs, check out some of my Aled Lewis favorites: Punk Rock Cock, Self-Sufficient and Eating Brains, Throwing Shapes.

The Meaning Of Life - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

If you like The Meaning of Life then be sure to vote for it at Threadless. The more votes, the greater the chances of it being printed!

On a side note, what is the Meaning of Life to you?

Alltop, Tee Reader and Tee Feeds

With all of the t-shirt blogs around it’s difficult to keep track of what’s going on where. That’s where Alltop, Tee Reader and Tee Feeds come in handy! All three are news aggregators and essentially allow you to see headlines from the top t-shirt blogs around (this site is located on all three!) by making use of RSS feeds.

Alltop keepds track of 51 feeds from 51 different sites. The nice thing about the Alltop site (which keeps track of top news based on category) is that you can select which feeds you see by hiding the feeds you don’t care to view.

Tee Reader keeps tracks of a total of 53 different tee sites. Unlike Alltop, you cannot hide the feeds that you rather not see, instead, you need to wade through the 53 feeds to find your favorites. The nice thing about Tee Reader is that you it provides you with the top 10 clicked posts from the 53 feeds. Tee Feeds has the least amount of feeds, 41 in total but has a nice clean interface.

And, if none of these sites tickle your fancy but still want to keep track of your favorite feeds then my recommendation would be to use an RSS reader like Google Reader to select which specific feeds you would like to keep track of (be sure to include this site!).

The Tcritic To Collaborate with Hide Your Arms

According to ongoing Twitter conversations, It looks like the Internet’s number one t-shirt blog will be collaborating with the author of another hot tee blog. Karl Long, better known in the tee community as the Tcritic has invited Hide Your Arms author Andy Bowness to be a guest poster on his blog.

The Tcritic has been around since 2006 and has over 4000 subscribers according to his Feedburner stats. Although one of the most prolific tee bloggers around, he has slowed down a bit, producing just one or two post every week or so. Hide Your Arms, on the other hand has been busingly pumping out content like a mad man. Fellow tee blogger, Taddict, even pronounced Andy as the “heir” to Long’s t-shirt blogging throne.

Needless today, this is a great thing for both Andy and Karl. It’ll help to feed the thirsty palettes of the Tcritic fans looking for more content and it’ll boost Andy’s credibility in the community and help to bring in more traffic to the already popular Hide Your Arms blog.

Is this the beginning of a passing of the torch from one top blog to another? Only time will tell.

My Liver Hates Me

I think I’ve found a new favorite tee and it’s called My Liver Hates Me! The tee, designed by Jon Kruse of Mediocore Clothing, was purchased by Jeff Wolff (better known as pzn in the Emptees forum) and is being sold at none other than myliverhatesme.net!

Interestingly enough, Jeff set up a Big Cartel store specifically designed for this tee and even purchased a URL to match the tee! I highly doubt that he’ll be starting a line of liver inspired tees (though anything is possible), so kudos to him for going all out on this one!

My Liver Hates Me is currently on sale for the paltry price of $14.00 and if use the codes WOOT, emptees or 15OFF you can get 15% of the already cheap sale price and it will bring the cost down to $11.90.

December The Month of Superheroes at Glennz Tees

Glenn Jones, the popular indie tee designer from New Zealand, has come out with his newest design and second for the month of December at Glennz Tees. Surprisingly, it’s another Superhero based tee – this time playing on Batman! The new tee, titled “Gotham’s Youth” features the ever popular bat logo with the always funny bunny ears. Hilarious!

Earlier in the month, he released a brilliant conceived tee titled “Slowing Down” which depicts an aged Flash, the speedy hero from the DC Universe.

Needless to say, I want both of these!
