It Came Out of Nowhere by Aled Lewis

Here’s an excellent tee from Aled Lewis that was recently available at Shirt.Woot as the shirt of the day. The tee is called It Came Out of Nowhere and although no longer available for 10 bucks, you can still pick one up at $15.

This is 2009 and in this day and age, no one ever has enough time for anything. The best solution? Time travel! Doesn’t that car remind you of the Doc Brown’s modified DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future? My question for those of you reading this: If you could go back in time and see one major even in history, what would it be?

The Question Me Tee by Imperial Motion

Here’s a more unconventional type tee for you. This one is called The Question Me Tee and is from Imperial Motion. The design features a plethora of questionable objects, like a spaceman, a hand grenade and the great pyramids of Egypt. If anything, this tee would make for a great conversation starter!

The Question Me Tee is printed on a slim-fit tee and features an inside neck label screen print. It’s available from Urban Outfitters for $14.99.

San Diego/Las Vegas Trip Day 1 + 2

This is the first of a couple updates that I’ll be doing during my trip to San Diego/Las Vegas. I thought it would be cool to keep you guys up to date as to what I’m up to and what tee I am wearing! If you want to checkout the tee that I wore just click on the orange links.

Arrival T-Shirt of Choice: The Caduceus Tee by Found Item Clothing

So we landed in San Diego from Honolulu late Wednesday night and decided to grab a bite to eat after checking into our hotel. Luckily, The Sophia Hotel is a cute little boutique hotel located in Downtown San Diego and just minutes from the Gaslamp Quarter. Despite the large number of eateries in the area, most of the kitchens were closed. Who needs food when beer is plentiful? We did, however, happen to find a nice little Thai restaurant on 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter called Royal Thai Cuisine. The staff there were friendly, the ambience was nice and the food was good! I’m just glad they were open late!

Me and Michelle at the airport headed to San Diego. You can see just a piece of the Caduceus tee from Found Item Clothing.

While we were walking around 5th Avenue someone mentioned, as they walked passed me, “Nice Shirt! I love Ferris Buller!” You can pick up The Caduceus Tee from Found Item Clothing for just $21.95.

Day 1 T-Shirt of Choice: Otter-Tude by ReThink Clothing

Our first full day in San Diego – I knew my feet would take a beating but I was game! The first stop of the day was the Embarcadero and a ferry ride to Coronado Island. Coronado Island is a small beach community with an island feel and is located just across of the San Diego skyline. After some photo taking we had lunch at Peohe’s on Coronado Island. Peohe’s is a Hawaiian themed seafood restaurant but the only thing Hawaiian about the restaurant is the name (which many of the employees had a difficult time pronouncing). The food was just ok for me, nothing great despite having a fairly high yelp ranking I would definitely suggest you check out either Alan Wong’s or one of the many Roy’s restaurants for far superior Hawaii/pacific rim fusion food fare. The one thing that was great about the restaurant was the awesome view of the city.

Here’s me doing a jumping around on Coronado Island. You can see San Diego in the background. I promise that I’ve got Otter-Tude under that button up shirt.

After lunch we took the ferry back and walked to Seaport Village which is basically a bunch of touristy type shops. When I say touristy I mean very touristy. If I ever make it back to San Diego I’d probably pass on visiting this place.

One place that I definitely would visit over and over again is the Gaslamp Quarter, which was our next stop. Lot’s of cool shops and a ton of restaurants. This area of downtown seems to always be lively no matter the hour. We walked up 4th and 5th Avenue and then checked out Horton Plaza, a huge mall in the middle of downtown San Diego. Later that afternoon we caught Angels & Demons, which for me, was a huge disappointment. The book was definitely better and I wish they didn’t remove as many things as they did. After the movie I had to rush down to an AT&T to pick up a charger for my iPhone because I had left mine in Honolulu!

We decided to, again, hit up the Gaslamp Quarter for dinner and decided to dine at Sloppy Joey’s. The Margherita Pizza was amazingly good! By the time we finished up at Sloppy Joey’s it was about 11ish and since the girlfriend is not a drinker we didn’t do the bar hopping thing (which I don’t mind because I was pooped anyway) and instead of heading back to the hotel I convinced her into watching Terminator Salvation. I’m a huge fan of the Terminator series and have been anticipating this McG directed flick for some time now. I was not dissapointed – I loved it!

Otter-Tude is available from ReThink Clothing for $19.99, use the coupon code COTY for an extrace 20% off your purchase.

Day 2 T-Shirt of Choice: Wingtips by Manos Lakoutsis

Amazingly this was the first time I’ve worn Wingtips (other than the time I reviewed it on Episode 19 of Co-Tee TV).

The first half of Day 2 was all about shopping. We picked up a rental car and then drove to just about the Tijuana border to the Las Americas Outlet Mall. After a quick breakfast at IHOP (not original, yes, but right next to the mall). The outlet mall was amazingly huge and easily the largest outlet mall I’ve been too, and I’ve been to a couple in multiple cities. We spent about 6 hours at Las Americas and bought a LOT of stuff, ’nuff said!

There’s Wingtips from Threadless! How do those white wayfarers look on me?

The second half of the day was spent at the ballpark! We checked out the San Diego Padres as they faced off against the Chicago Cubs at PETCO Park. We always make it a point to check out at least one sporting event whenever we travel which has been fun, especially since I’m a huge sports fan! We had great seats, 7th row, adjacent to first base. I must say that the fans here are very mild compared to ones I’ve experienced in both Boston and New York. The hotdogs were great as usual and enhanced, of course, by the setting and the firework show at the end of the game was a nice surprise. Oh yeah, and the Padres won 4-0.

Tomorrow: Sea World.

Kosher Ham Gets a Facelift

Our buddy Jeremy Bloom from Kosher Ham let me in on some privileged information (ok, maybe just a little heads up)! His brand has just undergone a major face life, a kosher one of course. The Kosher Ham website has been redesigned from the ground up and has been built to make the user experience that much better. I have to admit that it does look much slicker now, great job guys!

They’ve also released a bunch of new tees and will also begin to sell all of their designs on tote bag so be sure to keep an eye out for those.

The New Kosher Ham

And of course I’ve got a few Kosher Ham recommendations for you! In fact, I’ve got three. The first one is one that I’ve been waiting for someone to produce – it’s the Jon & Kate Plus Nine tee! I think they might have to change that to ten considering there have been allegations that Kate might have not been so faithful herself!

All of these tees are printed on American Apparel blanks and are available for $19.99 and remember 1. you get a free tee if you buy 3 (awesome) and 2. you can save an extra 10% if use the coupon code COTYFANS at checkout. Now go get kosher!

Paper airplanes are better than the real thing.

Yeah, I think. Why? Because you can build them on a whim and if they crash it’s no big deal.

I like my peanut butter nutty.

Indeed I do. In fact, I like it extra nutty.

I surf the sea of emotions.

I might not be able to surf the ocean very (ok, not at all), but, I do know how to surf a sea filled with wild emotions. I do that very well.

Static electricity keeps me grounded.

OK, this slogan probably does not make any sense from a physics point of view, but, I came up with it after I shocked myself while touching the door knob of my hotel room. I hate when that happens. Past experience tells me this will happen a lot more when I get to Sin City.

I’ll bet you a dollar that you read this sentence.

Oh, this I came up with as I was walking 5th avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego. I saw a homeless man in a wheelchair coming towards me on the street while holding a sign. The sign said: I’ll be you $1 that you read this sign. I did read the sign and a slogan was born.

Hand sanitizer: helping to create super germs.

Seriously, that’s what you’re doing every time that you choose to use hand sanitizer. You really don’t need to use hand sanitizer. It’s overkill. Sometimes germs can be a good thing.

Resistance is futile unless you are a part of The Resistance.

If you’re a fan of the Terminator series then you’ll get this slogan. By the way, I did see Terminator Salvation and I have to say that it was a gazillion times better than Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. It wasn’t as great as T2 but it was still a very good movie.

Tweet by Glennz Tees

Tweet is the newest tee from one of my favorite tee designers, Glenn Jones of Glennz Tees. It’s possibly the most subtle of all the “Twitter” tees that have been created so far. It doesn’t spell out Twitter, nor does it play on the newly invented Twitter vocabulary. It does, however, show just how imaginative Glenn really is! Tweet!

Abraham Lincoln is Big in 2009

Abrahama Lincoln is Big in 2009 is a guest post that was written by MJ, a TeeFury curator and t-shirt blogger.

One of the biggest trends in t-shirts right now is Abraham Lincoln. There are a lot of potential factors behind this, from the current political divide in this country causing people to long for unity to a charismatic president that reminds many of the personalities of past leaders. But one thing is for sure- if you don’t own a Lincoln tee yet, chances are you will very soon. Let’s take a look at some of the Abe tees battling it out for your dollars…

TeeFury

Lincplissken by Reilly Stroope is the newest tee to tackle this trend, painting the former pres as a cinematical badass by combining his features with that of Snake Plissken of Escape from New York Fame. It also puts a hilarious spin on the recurring lines from that series (“I heard you were dead” and “I thought you’d be taller”). Act fast on this one, it will on be available for 24 hours on TeeFury.com on May 21st.

Bigfoot vs. Abe Lincoln

Enclothe

Lincoln’s reputation as a legendary guy makes him a character ripe for comedy. Glarkware’s Bigfoot vs. Abe Lincoln plays off this well, comparing him with a mythical figure. Enclothe tackles a similar theme and encompasses two trends at once by portraying Abe as a zombie fighter. The man who united the country becomes a warrior who unites citizens against a common goal: eradicating the undead.

Abe

Design By Humans

The t-shirt contest community also hopped on this trend, with both Threadless and Design By Humans capitalizing on Lincoln’s larger-than-life reputation. The elongated guns in Joe Carr’s Abe play off his height, with a nice detail in the N and S labelling. Meanwhile, ejiboo’s Abraham Lincosmic paints him as large as the universe itself.

Visit The Tee Clinic

One of the best things about the Tee Clinic is the actual site itself. I love the site design, it’s fun, inviting and best of all you get a nice view of the featured tees! The Tee Clinic is a fun project that was started by Scotland based graphic design student, Euan Gallacher. Euan is the self proclaimed T-Shirt doctor due to his healthy love for that cotton goodness known as the T-Shirt.

The site isn’t the only eye candy, the shirts designed by Euan are not shabby at all, they’re actually pretty awesome. I’ve included a couple of my Tee Clinic favorite here of for you to checkout! His designs are very loud, colorful and features large prints. The tees are printed on Alstyle blanks and are priced at $19.99.
