Our buddy Chris from Rizzo Tees recently released his newest tee and it’s a fun one! Riding on the popularity of the phenomenon that is Twitter, this new tee is simply called, Props To My Tweeps. The tee is available for sale at the special introductory sale rate of $15 until this Friday (May 8). Remember, Rizzo Tees is part of the Attack of the Coupon Codes promotion so be sure to use the code â€COTY†at checkout to save yourself 10% off your entire order!Â
I’ve featured tees from Validus Apparel on the blog a few times before but this time I’m glad to mention that they have two tees available for purchase and it’s for a great cause. Kristian Hay, co-founder of Validus Apparel is about to embark on a summer trip to South Africa were he will be helping orphaned kids with HIV. A portion of the proceeds earned from the two tees seen here will go directly to the Refilwe Project and will help those who are less fortunate. Both tees are printed on American Apparel blanks and cost $19.99 each.Â
Here are a few words from Kristian about the project:
“A group of teachers and students from my school are going to South Africa this summer on a mission to help orphaned kids in the establishment entitled “Refilwe”. We’re trying to help them raise enough money to build a school there as well as establish a soccer camp for the children. The majority of the kids there are not only orphaned but HIV infected and a change is needed. Of course there are a countless number of people that need our help but this is one small step on the road to a better world. With every purchase of these shirts, a portion of the proceeds will go into the trip to Refilwe.” -Kristian Hay of Validus Apparel
Who is ready for some Threadless action for this wonderful Monday? It’s episode #13 and this week I’ve got tentacle fever -- probably because a bunch of this weeks tees have tentacles! My Threadless Pick of The Week also had the Threadless pimp spot, it’s Ode to Joy by Joe Car aka Isaboa! If you haven’t yet, be sure to check out and vote for my TypeTees slogan submissions -- I’m submitting one every day until I get printed! Every vote counts so vote for a slogan and help me get printed.
The following video comes courtesy of a tweet made by T-Shirt printing extraordinaire, Jimmy Heartcore. The song is called The First Day of My Life and it is performed by the band Bright Eyes and it’s from their 2005 album, I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning. I absolutely love the song and I think that the simplicity of the video captures the complexity of living life to the fullest perfectly. Definitely enjoy this music video with tea and a comfy tee!
If you enjoyed this song I highly recommend that you check out Conor Oberst’s solo album, it’s genius (and I think I’ve featured him on this blog once before). Below you’ll find a pair of tees from Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band (Conor is the lead singer of Bright eyes) that I found in his Big Cartel store.Â
Here’s a great interview that Chris Morrow from iReport did with the popular wine guru and social media expert, Gary Vaynerchuk. In the short video Gary talks a little about Twitter and more importantly, Search.Twitter, and how we can use this tool to optimize our personal brands.Â
I have to admit that I am a huge fan of Gary and he was a big inspiration for me starting this blog. Anyone else out there reading this dig what @garyvee is doing?Â
And of course, I must include a T-Shirt in the post, so here we go, some Gary Vaynerchuk inspired tees:
All three of these tee can be picked up from Wine Library. The first one is called lurker and it’s the perfect tee for those of us who, well, love to lurk. It’s normally priced at $15.99 but is on sale for just $9.99.Â
OAK MONSTER! Gary loves to talk about that Oak Monster and if you’re a fan of the Oak Monster this is the tee that you should rock. Unfortunately, it’s sold out – Booo!
And finally, it’s the Fruit Bomb! And who doesn’t like a good fruit bomb once in a while, I know I don’t mind it at all. If you’re into over the top fruit bomb wines then pick up this Wine Library tee for $14.99.Â
Here’s a great tutorial that I stumbled upon on the French tee blog, Grafitee. The tutorial was done by French artist, Apach from ApachCreation. You can go here to see the original blog post, but be forewarned, it’s in French. If you don’t understand French then I’ve translated the original post (or Google did) here for the English speaking tee fans. Lot’s of pictures, so brace yourself – it’s cool stuff! *Everything in quotes was written by ApachCreation for Grafitee and was translated to English (don’t blame me if the translation is incorrect, blame Google!). Thanks to ApachCreation for such a great set of photos.Â
“Here is a tutorial that will explain how to make a t-shirt silkscreened by hand. I did not have the equipment to carry out a t-shirt so I called Apach, a passionate screenprinter who is fairly well equipped.”
The oh so creative Glenn Jones has come up with an ingenious idea for his popular T-Shirt designs – laptop skins! And why not, people love originality and by slapping one of these skins on your laptop you will indeed achieve an originality. Just be ready for the constant ooogling by others (because people get jealous fast when they see awesome stuff) and the tirade of “Where’d yo get that” inquiries. The Glennz skins are available now for 13″ to 17″ laptops and sell for $17.95.
I also noticed, and thought that I would point this out, that a few of the skins sport some of Glenn Jones’ older Threadless designs – like one of my faves “What Would MacGyver do?” Interesting, huh!
Who doesn’t like a good mystery? Germany’s number one T-Shirt design and contest site, A Better Tomorrow, has a great deal going on, but, the catch involves you taking a little risk! It’s a mystery tee, you simply choose your size and the fine people at A Better Tomorrow will select the design that you get. Fun!Â
It turns out that these are actually a great deal as well since mystery tees and hoodies are priced less than the regular tees. Take a risk and get a surprise in he mail. The mystery tees cost 12,00 € (~$16) and the hoodies cost 25,00 € (~$33). Good luck!
If surprises aren’t your thing then here are some A Better Tomorrow picks from me to you:
And my TypeTees Slogan-A-Day Experiment continues – It’s Week 6 and I am officially in it to win it. There’s no turning back at this point guys, because if I did, that would be a big shame. You’ve got me hooked Threadless, slogan making has become an addiction! To see all of my slogans and to vote for them check out my Threadless profile page. Vote for me and I will make you chow mein if ever we meet in real life.
I think it was something @jeffrey said on twitter that was the inspiration for this sentence. And I have to agree, some of my best ideas were born while I was on the can. Hmmm….
Yawns are a very interesting thing. They don’t discriminate. Yawns are the unconscious STD, you pass them on without even knowing it – next thing you know, you’ve got 10 people yawning. What’s the psychology behind yawns? I need to look that up.
This is something a word snob that I follow on twitter had said: “”group of individuals” is one of the dumbest phrases in the world, and i’ve heard it twice today.” I took it and ran with it.Â
Spoilers, spoiler, spoilers. I am not a big fan of people that like to look up spoilers and then spread the gospel. These types of people annoy the heck out of me. Keep the spoils to yourselves!
I’v never really been a big fan of paper shredders. I’m not sure why. I prefer the one-on-one interaction of tearing paper into small little pieces with my bare hands. It’s so much more fun and not as noisy.Â
Everyone’s got a fever over the swine flu pandemic – okay, bad choice of words. Back on point, a t-shirt was bound to happen and so here it is, Swine Flu: Bacon’s Revenge by Neatorama illustrator Chris Murphy. The shirt is available from Neatorama for the low price of $9.95 and is also available as a sweatshirt or hoodie. Thank goodness I live on a pretty isolated island – I love you Hawaii.
And if you’re in one of the Swine Flu hotspots, why not make it a fashionable event! If I was a surgeon of any sort, I would definitely rock one of these bad boys – they all look so freakin’ fresh. The masks were actually designed by artist Irina Bok and she will be producing a very limited amounted of these. Here’s the info:
With all the paranoia about swine flu i think there’s an opportunity to do something cool – design fashion surgical masks! Not only they are aesthetically pleasing, they can save your life (well.. not really.. they mostly just look good.)
I am planning to produce very limited edition of these in about 4 weeks and they will cost about $10 (plus $3 S&H). Email me to get your name on the list: irinablok@gmail.com
