This week I continue my summer long series on Ongoing T-Shirt Contest Sites. Every week, I will be reviewing a different tee from one of many different online contest sites. I’ll be discussing how each of these sites differ, how the submission and selection process work and what your rights are as a designer. Check out past reviews on: ShirtFight, A Better Tomorrow, Full Metal T-Shirt, tFuse and Design By Humans.
You can also watch this episode on Vimeo, Viddler, YouTube, blip.tv and download and sync all episodes to your iPod or iPhone by subscribing for free to Co-Tee TV in the iTunes Store.
Coty’s Thoughts:
If You Wish Upon A Star by Tom Neal and available at Teextile.Pros: Love the shirt, great design! Nice gradient effect, most likely achieved through Direct-To-Garment printing. Printed on an American Apparel blank so you know I like the fit and softness of the shirt. Overall, a solid shirt. Cons: Not tagless. Not many extras here, just a solid shirt, I guess that helps to keep the costs down. Price: $12
Make Wellness Not War by I Am Wellness.Pros: Lots of things to love about the package from I Am Wellness. Shirts were individually packaged in plastic to keep out odors and liquids from damaging the shirt. The cut and sew elements, from the custom neck tag to the seam tag on the lowert portion of this shirt was well done, as was the custom hangtag. Included with the Baseball tee (not reviewed here but will be in a future episode) were Bazooka Bubblegum and an Upper Deck baseball card, as well as an I Am Wellness card and sticker. The Make Wellness Not War shirt was printed on an American Apparel Tri-Blend blank, which was super soft, I loved the feel of it and the fit was magnificent. It looks like the I Am Wellness people put a lot of effort and thought into their product and brand. I loved it and I highly recommend I Am Wellness! Cons: What cons? Price: $27.95.
Meat Is Murder. Tasty, tasty murder. by Stu and available at Threadless. I “got” this shirt but many of my friends did not “get it” (poor souls). And for the record, I am a carnivore and will never, ever, ever, become vegetarian. It’s just not in my DNA. Price: $15.00.
If you want to send me a product to review, please feel free to do so. You can find my information in the contact menu above. Thanks!
Ever dream of being a page from the phone book? Well, now you can with this shirt from Origin68. Like the product page says, “it’s some great telephone book camoflage.” and I agree! And by the way, who actually uses phonebooks nowadays? Could this shirt be a tribute to another dying relic? Phonebooks are a waste of trees, anyhow. Go electronic and save leaves! Anonymous is printed on a lemon colored Continental shirt and is available for purchase from Origin68 for £15.00.Â
I am absolutely loving the resurgence of NPH aka Neil Patrick Harris. Doogie Howser is another one of those shows that I grew up watching and so I was instantly drawn to this tee when I saw it over at Rock Your Tees.
I’m thinking that it’s the perfect gift or present for any aspiring physician or medical student. The perfect shirt to wear under that clean white coat. You can find I Tootered Doogie Howser at Rock Your Tees for $15.99. And in case you’re wondering, yes, it’s screen printed on an American Apparel blank.Â
I really do enjoy perusing the Sharing Machine, the online store of creative duo and real life husband and wife, Drew & Natalie Dee. This shirt pretty much sums up how I feel on certain days. A bit bipolar to say the least. A little happy, a little sad, and somewhat indifferent. This is the perfect shirt to wear whenever you’re feeling moody. It’s sort of the whatever shirt that sums up whatever kind of days.
You can have IDONTCAREÂ for a reasonable $16 from the Sharing Machine to wear whenever you’re having a whatever day.Â
Again, I owe it to Twitter because without it I would not have ever found this tee! I love stumbling across great new brands awesome T-Shirts. Slide To Unlock from Milk & Eggs Co. is just straight up cool. Or, as I put it in a tweet I made about the shirt, “it’s OMFG good!”
This design will probably bring a smile to any iPhone user but will likely resonate most with relationship seeking iPhone owners! You can pick up this shirt from Milk & Eggs Co. for $20, and yes, it is printed on an American Apparel shirt for a cool and comfy feel.
For my Master’s Thesis, I researched individuals suffering from migraine aura. If you’re not familiar with migraine aura, it’s basically a migraine that includes visual hallucinations prior to the actual migraine attack. One of the pre-tests that I did on patients, just to make sure their vision was okay was the Ishihara Colorblind Test. And so when I saw this tee, designed by Reece Ward, memories of my Master’s Thesis came flooding back.
I love the concept of Love Is Blind and would definitely wear it in a heart beat. It would be so awesome if I was still giving these colorblind tests to patients. It would probably lead to some interesting conversations! You can pick up Love Is Blind by Reece Ward from his RedBubble store for $24.34.
Are you a designer? Have you submitted to Finroo yet? If not, then you definitely should check them out. They are running a pretty cool promo for artist who submit to their site and get selected for print. Basically, if your design gets chosen for print you receive $4 for every shirt sold and they donate a buck to a charity of your choice.
The contest part involves you being able to sell out your designs. Finroo does limited runs and if you’re the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person to sell out your design you win cash (see below for details). If you’re the first to sell 250 tees, you win $2000. Not bad, if you’re a T-Shirt contest site junkie I highly recommend you check out Finroo.
Uneetee.com is having a special $5 Mystery Giveaway sale. It’s a giveaway, yet it costs $5? You might be wondering what the deal is. So basically, you purchase a $5 Uneetee.com giftcard and you are guaranteed to receive a minimum of $6, but you also get the chance of receiving a $15, $50, or $100 giftcard (hence the mystery part).Â
I’ve never purchased anything from Unetee before. Maybe I’ll give this shot! Maybe I’ll get lucky Â
In an unprecedented move, Threadless has released Three Keyboard Cat Moon after just three days of voting and an believable 3,791 votes. The shirt had a final score of 4.48 out of 5, the highest I’ve ever seen for a Threadless tee.
If you’re wondering what all the hype is about ten you’ve probably not seen one of the most talked about shirts on the Internet, the Three Wolf Moon shirt. After the first five star review stated, “it fits my girthy frame, has wolves on it, attracts women” but “cannot see wolves with arms crossed”, a firestorm (meaning hundreds) of ironic reviews followed suit. The Three Wolf Moon shirt soared to the top of Amazons Top 10 list. A parody video consisting of some of the comments has also been posted to YouTube!
Oxen, the designer of the Threadless Three Keyboard Cat Moon will go down as creating one of the most sought after Threadless tees. The only question is, will he be a one hit wonder? In any case, you can pick up Three Keyboard Cat Moon for $20 from Threadless now!
