I Run On Biofuel

It’s 2009 and so why aren’t all cars being run with some type of biofuel? Forget fossil fuels, that was so last century. We’ve got to lose our dependence on oil. The United States must play catch up and start innovating so that we can stop relying on foreign countries for our fuel. OK, I’ll get off of my little soap box now!

You can profess your interest in biofuel by wearing this shirt from our friends at Rizzo Tees. I am sure that many of the readers can relate to that mug of ice cold beer. I think, however, that the design could have featured a corn on the cob and would have made just as much sense, in fact, I think it would have been a much more powerful and insightful shirt had it been a piece of corn instead of a mug of beer. But that might just be me!

You can pick up I Run On Biofuel from Rizzo Tees for $15! Want to know a secret? You can save 10% on your entire Rizzo Tees order by using the coupon code “COTY” at checkout. Score!

Sensationalism + ShirtFight Update

The newest shirt from ShirtFight!, Sensationalism by mathiole, marks the end of a chapter and the start of a new one for the startup T-Shirt contest site. This was the last of the open contests at ShirtFight as they will be transitioning away from the T-Shirt contest model.

After next weeks Heavyweight challenge (a closed contest for those who have submitted to the site before) the ShirtFight staff will be focusing on marketing their existing stock of T-Shirts to a wider audience. They will still be adding new designs, but the ShirtFight staff will be curating those on their own.

Although it is sad to see ShirtFight abandon the weekly contests, I am excited to see how they innovate and change (for the better) in the next couple of weeks and months. Check out the video below, El Presidente and Miss Etti explain it all!

App Review #1: Remote

So I thought I’d try something a bit different for the site. If you’re a regular reader here at cotygonzales.com then you know that I am passionate not only about T-Shirts but also the Apple platform and all that entails. I’d like to start a regular video segment for the site were I, the captain of this intrepid blog, review my favorite iPhone applications.

I start with an app that I’ve had on my iPhone for a while now but never got around to playing with until this past week. It’s the Remote app from Apple. The Remote app is an excellent way to control your iTunes Library or Apple TV from a distance. Here’s what I had to say:

New Math + Funky Equations = Cool Shirts!

Remember the guys from Doubletake Clothing? Sure you do, they released the very popular Bears, Beets, Battlestar… tee early on this year. Well, they’re back. Sort of. This time the masterminds behind Doubletake Clothing has forged a new alliance with author/artist Craig Damrauer, of New Math fame.

“New Math started as an art book which was sold at MOMA and a number of other museum stores and boutiques in the US and Japan. In the fall CT Editions will publish a collection of New Math, edited by Ed Ruscha. New Math has been seen in GOOD Magazine, the New York Times Op-Ed page, Mother Jones and the German Greenpeace Magazine.”

If you haven’t checked out New Math: Equations for Living, I urge you to do so. I just picked up a copy from Amazon for a cheap $9.94 and am excited to see what other equations Craig has cooked up.

As far as the shirts go, yeah they’re simple – they are supposed to be! They retain the “New Math” look and feel as seen in the book. My favorite from the bunch is the Modern Art equation shirt. Isn’t it so true? I think so. For an extra $5 you can even pick up an amazing collectors/gift box. Each of these environmentally friendly boxes features the New Math equation of the shirt.

Sale at The Printed Mind

I’ve always been fascinated by the human brain, how it functions and how we behave as a result. It’s no wonder my day job involves me trying to figure out what’s going in inside the heads of some very interesting people. Because of this I was excited when Levi Hardeman (formerly of Word! Apparel) started his new venture, The Printed Mind. His goal was to start to clothing brand that focused on that marvelous orgran, the brain.

If you want to stock up on brain-filled tees then be sure to check out the current sale at The Printed Mind. They are making room for a new release so it’s the perfect time to get the current stuff at a cheaper price. They have one shirt even marked down to $5.99. Insane!
