The Flying Mouse 365 Project

Artist and illustrator extraordinaire Hon Lam aka Flying Mouse set out to do something a year ago that was crazy insane. He decided to create a design a day for an entire year that was worthy for submission to Threadless. 365 days later, Lam had a whole lot of T-Shirt designs without out a home. He also became the most printed artist at Threadless (27 winning submissions). So what to do with the rest of his designs that didn’t make the Threadless cut? Lam decided to start his own brand, Flying Mouse 365, where you can find the bulk of his illustrations.

Seven new tees will be released every week at a lower pre-sale price. Once the week is over, a new batch of 7 tees are released. Shirts are printed on American Apparel blanks.

Coty’s Thoughts:

Weather Wiper by Zack Davenport and available at Rethink Clothing. Pros: Printed on an American Apparel tee so the shirt is super soft and comfortable. Large 4 color print over the chest, stunning design! Shirt comes packaged with a Rethink Clothing stickers. Shirt is tagless for itch free comfort and features a screen printed neck label instead.  Cons: My previous cons for for past Rethink Clothing tees had been that they weren’t tagless – they seemed to have fixed that issue! Price: $17.99 but you can save 20% off your entire order with the coupon code “COTY” at checkout.

Pyknic Releases Winter 2009 Line

Pyknic Clothing just unleashed upon the world their Winter 2009 line and my oh my what a release it is. Over 25 new products for both men and women. They’ve got standard tees, totes, v-necks, sweaters and baseball tees. It also looks like they are focusing a bit more on branding now, with a bunch of their shirts featuring just the forks and basket logo ala Johnny Cupcakes crossbones and cupcakes logo tees. The one thing that they are doing differently from Mr. Cupcakes is that they have been invading the malls for teen consumption – Pyknic Clothing is available at Pacsun stores nationwide.

The tees are available now from the Pyknic Online Store and start from $26.98. My favorite from the bunch? It’s got to be the simple Feed The Hungry tee.

Dance Party Massacre: Season 3

I’ve always been a fan of Dance Party Massacre and I’ve been covering the Boston based indie brand since the beginning of this blog. With every new release, and especially with the release of the Season 3 line of T-Shirts, they grow creatively and expand on their constant themes of gore,  monsters and partying. Founder Alex Dakoulas brings his A game with this new release and hopes it is the start to bigger things for DPM.

“They say third time’s a charm, and I see good things happening. I know I will be contacting more stores about carrying the line, planning some new ventures, expanding our products, and speaking with press/magazines/newspapers to get the brand out there. Kicking off this season we put out our first hoodie, a sick sweatshirt design (which is not entirely horror—something that will continue), our first women’s specific shirt, and worked with the awesome Matt Skiff again as well bringing in a great artist by the name of Jessica Hess for the Trilogy design.”

Survival Kit is my definite favorite from Season 3 with Sweet Party coming in a close second!

Co-Tee TV Episode 41: Melted, New Math and Pirates

In this episode of Co-Tee TV I wear Melted by Desired Hearts and review Modern Art and Pirates from New Math by Craig Damrauer. The shirts are based on the popular website, More New Math, and the book written by Damrauer. The site, book and shirts feature witty equations for every day living.

Coty’s Thoughts:

Pirates and Modern Art by New Math. Pros: The New Math shirts by Craig Damrauer match the New Math website and book perfectly. Printed on American Apparel tees so you know that I dig the fit and feel of these shirts – super comfortable and soft. My shirts came packaged in a lovely New Math printed cardboard box. Excellent shirt for those who enjoy mathematics, typography or just fun witty one liners. Cons: Nothing really. The shirt is what it is and that is a compliment to the New Math book and website. Price: $20.

Panda Assassin

Our friends over at Crazy Go Lucky just released a new tee and it’s a bloody one. A bloody pandy to be exact. Panda Assassin is the newest character addition to the Crazy Go Lucky line. The design is printed on a Mint 100% Cotton Jersey tee and is available for purchase for $20. Head on over to the Crazy Go Lucky website and get the lowdown on the Panda Assassin. Here’s a snippet of his bio:

“Panda is a panda trained by the government under it’s Counter Terrorist Agency to be a skilled and deadly government operative. While the CTA could have created an android or trained a human, they chose a panda just because they thought it was cool at the time. They trained panda in marksmanship, combat, strategy, endurance, and agility. The training was so intense that it caused panda to bleed from the eyes and mouth….”

It’s What’s On The Inside That Counts

Dutch Southern continues with their movie themed shirts with this beauty, It’s What’s On The Inside That Counts. Hollywood tends to feature the glitz, glamour and beauty but this shirt is the exact opposite. It’s What’s On The Inside That Counts features some of films more “colorful” characters. In other words, the ugly dudes. This shirt is a who’s who of facial feature deficient characters of films past. I love it!

It’s What’s On The Inside That Counts was designed by artist Andrew Gregory (aka lunchboxbrain) and is printed on a silver American Apparel tee and is available now from Dutch Southern for $19.
