Owl by Alive & Well

What does it mean to be Alive & Well? According to this owl, it means getting to the tootsie roll center of a Tootsie Pop! This cute parody tee of the iconic Tootsie Pop Owl from the memorable 80′s commercial, is a fun piece of nostalgia, especially for an 80′s kid like me. For an extra piece of fun, check out the video below. It’s a behind the scenes sneak peak of Owl by Alive & Well being manually screen printed by Monster Press.

Owl is printed on a Gildan Soft Style blank and is available now from the Alive & Well online store for £13.99.

Ugmonk Releases Two New Tees

One of my favorite indie T-Shirt brands has just released two brand new designs and they have got me excited! Designer Jeff Sheldon of Ugmonk recently unleashed Easier Said Than Done and Seven Days A Week, and they both have got me drooling. I am a huge fan of tees that use typography effectively and Ugmonk knows how to use type effectively.

Like Ugmonk’s previous release, There’s More To Life, both of the new shirts feature custom type designed exclusively by Sheldon. He even posted a few photos of the design process.

Easier Said Than Done is very reminiscent of the Ugmonk classics, And Then I Woke Up and Lowercase. “Talk is cheap. In a world of 24/7 news and commentary, everyone seems to have an opinion about how to solve the world’s problems (or at least wants to point them out). In the end, though, there are few people who are willing to go beyond the talk and get things done. Don’t just say it. Do it.”

Both T-Shirts are printed on American Apparel tees and are available now from Ugmonk for $24.99. If you do decide to make an Ugmonk purchase then be sure to use the coupon code “COTY09″ at checkout for an extra 10% off your entire purchase!

Co-Tee TV Episode 61: Johnny Cupcakes and The Suitcase Tour

In this episode of Co-Tee TV I wear Robocopper by Olly Moss and review a box of goodies sent to me from Johnny Cupcakes, a clothing brand started in 2001 by Massachusetts native, Johnny Earle. Earlier this month, Johnny Cupcakes embarked on a nationwide adventure that he dubbed The Suitcase Tour.

For Johnny, this is him going back to his roots. When he first started Johnny Cupcakes, he would sell goods stuffed in an old suitcase from the trunk of car. He would stuff that suitcase full with Johnny Cupcakes tees and he’d bring it along to whatever city his band was playing in at the time. That was how Johnny Cupcakes started and now with this tour, Johnny Cupcakes has come full circle.

Coty’s Thoughts:

I received a couple of products from Johnny Cupcakes, including his Make Cupcakes Not War sticker, Camo Print Pencil, Camo Print Notebook, and Crossbones Wallet. The stickers and the pencil were your standard branded items and are some of the cheaper products in the Johnny Cupcakes shop. On a budget? Buy a Johnny Cupcakes branded pencil, pin or sticker.

The composition book was not as sturdy as those classic composition books from grade school with the thick front and back covers. Instead, this one was a bit more flexible due to the covers not being as thick. The inside back cover of the book comes with the standard “things you should know” facts like you’d find in any composition book. The inside of the front cover has a cute outline of the Johnny Cupcakes logo that you encouraged to sketch inside of.

The most exciting part of the package was the purple leather crossbones wallet. The wallet comes packaged in a little brown sack, with black lettering and a red drawstring. The wallet is very thin and is made up of a total of four pockets. The main center pocket is perfect for a few bills. On one side of the wallet there are two pockets for your plastic cards and on the opposite side you’ll find a pocket with a clear window, presumably for identification.

Pricing: Purple Crossbones Wallet ($24.99), Camo Print Notebook ($5.99), Make Cupcakes Not War Sticker ($2.99), Camo Print Pencil (0.99¢).

Coty’s Thoughts:

I’ve Developed A Theory That Proves I’m Not A Nerd by Made With Awesome. Pros: Shirt comes packaged in a clear plastic bag and included with the shirt were a few Made With Awesome stickers. The T-Shirt is printed on an American Apparel tee so you know that I am a fan of the sizing and fit. The print is nice and large, and more importantly, it’s soft. The shirt features a screen printed neck label with the name of the shirt and its creators. Cons: There is truly nothing that I disliked about the Made With Awesome tee or my Made With Awesome experience. Made With Awesome is in fact … awesome! They put out an excellent product and I think you try them out it you haven’t already. Price: $20.

Made With Awesome

Some random artwork spotted as we walked to around the awesome city of brotherly love, Philadelphia!

Made With Awesome

So in Philadelphia I’ve been told that there are three main places to get Philly Cheesesteaks: Pat’s, Geno’s and Jim’s. Jim’s Steaks is the best of the three in my opinion by a mile! They’re cheesesteaks are so mouth watering good that they’re awesome! beyond belief

Made With Awesome

That’s me and that’s the Liberty Bell. Awesome!

Isgro Pastries serves up some of the most awesome cannolis!

I Mario New York by Nintendo. Pros: A nice alternative to the basic I Heart NY tourist T-Shirt. When I first saw this shirt at Nintendo World in New York, my eyes just gravitated to it and I knew that I just had to have it. The shirt is screen printed on the front and back and is also tagless and features a screen printed label inside the neck. Cons: What cons? Well, the only con is that maybe you won’t be able to find this shirt anymore since I picked it up nearly three years ago. Price: $22.99.

A Visit To Gama-Go’s San Francisco Boutique

During my recent trip to San Francisco, I had the chance to stop over at Gama-Go’s flagship San Francisco boutique located at 335 8th Street in the SOMA neighborhood. GAMA-GO, which was started in 2000 by an art school dropout, traveling curmudgeon, and an amateur taxidermist, opened their first retail store just about a year ago. I had been invited by Adam Nace, one of the PR gurus at Gama-Go, to stop by the store and take a look around. I’m really glad that Adam had contacted because if he had not I probably would have missed visiting their awesome shop. Unfortunately, because of scheduling (I stopped by on a Saturday) I didn’t have a chance to meet with Adam or the founders.

The shop was surprisingly very spacious, and this gives you lots of room to explore the various GAMA-GO goodies. I had a fun time rummaging through the different designs while my girlfriend thumbed through the fun non-tee GAMA-GOODS. All of the shirts that I had lusted for on GAMA-GO’s online store was available at their boutique. I left GAMA-Go with two yeti-centric T-Shirts, Sequoia Solo and Yeti King, both of which I had been wanting to get for some time. I kind of wish that I had gotten the rest of their Yeti themed tees! Here are a few of the photos that I took:

101 Nintendo T-Shirts For The Ultimate Nintendo Gamer

To say that the Nintendo Entertainment System was a part of my childhood is quite an understatement. The original NES was in fact a big part of my childhood. I recall countless hours playing Super Mario Bros., Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!, Rad Racer, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, just to name a few of my favorite titles. I remember leaving the NES on overnight just so that I could save my place in in a particular game and continue playing the next day. I remember vigorously blowing into cartridges to kick start them back to life. I remember the countless hours of fun that I had with my NES.

101 Nintendo T-Shirts

This list is built on that childhood love that I had for Nintendo. To this day, you can still catch me playing with the Nintendo Wii or my DS. The only difference now is that I can look good (and so can you) in Nintendo gear while I am gaming out. Enjoy the list!

I’d love to hear which one of these are your favorites and whether or not you own any of these tees! And if you know of a NINTENDO related shirt not on this list then please tell me about it. Leave a comment below in the comments section and let me know!

If you enjoyed this post then please, please, please, tell you’re friends about it! A simple Tweet or post on your Facebook page will help to get the word out, and a link back on your blog would be greatly appreciated!

Stop Honking

New York based art design firm, MyORB, recently released their Stop Honking tee in hopes of reducing the daily noise pollution caused by irate (and some not so irate) drivers. I visited New York three summers ago and I can tell you first hand that honking is part of the culture there. All of the honking initially came to me as quite a shock, considering that I am from Hawaii and honking is basically taboo here. If you honk in Hawaii you get labelled as the ass. Having said that, I rather enjoy honking here on the islands because I feel that, frankly, more people should honk when honking is necessary.

Stop Honking

The Stop Honking T-Shirts from MyORB is “meant to be worn as an active call for car drivers to stop honking.” However, I’m pretty sure that this tee will have an inverse effect. I guarantee that every lunatic driver that sees this shirt will do one thing, and that one thing is honk their horn. They’ll honk their horn with such vivid enthusiasm that the shirt will be relegated to the cultural bin of ineffective products. Still, cool concept and in the end, if you want to annoy honkers then this is the shirt to get. Stop Honking is available now from MyORB for $15.
