BeerBot Bottle Opener T-Shirt

Yeah, someone made a T-Shirt with a beer bottle opener built in. No, I’m not kidding. And although this is not the end of civilization, I think we might be getting close. Speaking of built-in bottle openers, have you seen those slippers (flip-flops for you mainland folks) with the built in bottle openers? I could not even fathom opening an ice cold lager with the germ ridden underside of a slipper. Nasty! N-A-S-T-Y!

So compared to the slipper with the build-in bottle opener, I guess the BeerBot isn’t that bad. Unless of course you use your T-Shirt to wipe your snot.

The BeerBot Bottle Opener T-Shirt is available now from ThinkGeek for $19.99.

And here are those slippers that I was talking about. These are made by Reef. You can pick up a pear from Amazon for about $45.

Suck It Trebek: SNL Celebrity Jeopardy Parody T-Shirt

I admit that I no longer watch as much Saturday Night Live as I used to do. In fact, nowadays I tune in mainly to catch the musical act, if it’s a group that interests me. However, there was a time when I tuned in to SNL on a regular basis, when  Sandler, Ferrell, Carvey, Farley and Myers ruled the SNL airwaves.

One of my favorite Ferrell sketches was definitely the Celebrity Jeopardy sketches with “Sean Connery.” See below for some funny clips! The sketch is so timeless that our friends over at NerdyShirts decided to turn it into a T-Shirt! Suck It Trebek is the NerdyShirt homage to the classic SNL sketch.

You can pick up Suck It Trebek from NerdyShirts now for $14.95 (special presale price).

Not So Happy: Ronald McDonald Not Really Lovin’ It

Oh you poor Ronald McDonald. I can actually relate to Ronald because I’ve had a little too much McDonalds for liking in the past few weeks. I am a Chicken McNuggets fiend and so the recent 20 piece Chicken McNuggets for $5.99 deal that recently swept through Hawaii was not good for me and my cardiovascular health. They taste really good when you are eating them but within an hour or two I always feel like Ronald does in this lovely Threadless tee. Needless to say, I keep going back. Despicable me!

Not So Happy by Lara Zombie is available now from Threadless for $18. Chicken McNuggets are not included.

Hold The Ketchup + Pizza Fight

Scared Panda is a Chicago based T-Shirt shop that specializes in tees that show off the spirit of Chicago and support non-profit organizations. What better way to show your love for your city than with its food. I’ll be the first to admit that when I visit a city that I’ve never been to, I make it a point to eat only at local dining hot spots. No McDonald’s for me. Hole in the wall joints, local eateries, bakeries, and fine dining restaurants make for one of the best ways to experience a city you’ve never been to.

The guys at Scared Panda not only have a love for Chicago but also a love for the food that Chicago has come to be known for, like the Chicago hot dog and the Chicago style deep dish pizza.

Some of you might be wondering at this point, what makes a Chicago hot dog a Chicago hot dog and how did the Chicago style deep dish pizza come about? Chicago food history lesson:

A Chicago-style hot dog is a steamed, boiled or grilled all-beef hot dog on a poppy seed bun. The hot dog is topped with mustard, onion, sweet pickle relish (often a dyed neon green variety called “Nuclear Relish” or “Emerald Relish”), a dill pickle spear, tomato slices or wedges, pickled sport peppers, and celery salt. Some variants exist, adding ingredients such as cucumber slices, but there is a widely-shared, strong opinion among many Chicagoans and aficionados that ketchup is unacceptable.

And according to Hot Dog Chicago Style, it is important to apply the topping on a Chicago dog accordingly:

  1. Yellow Mustard
  2. Bright “Neon” Green Relish
  3. Fresh Chopped Onions
  4. Two Tomato Wedges
  5. A Pickle Spear or Slice
  6. Two Sport Peppers
  7. A Dash of Celery Salt

Chicago-style deep dish pizza has a buttery crust up to three inches tall at the edge, slightly higher than the large amounts of cheese and chunky tomato sauce, acting as a large bowl. The term also refers to “stuffed” pizza, another Chicago style. While in Chicago most pizzerias serve thin-crust pizza, generally in a style characteristic to the city, the term Chicago-style pizza is used to describe this deep-dish style of pizza.

Where to go for a Chicago-style deep dish pizza?

And of course, you can pick up the Hold The Ketchup (10% of the proceeds go to PAWS Chicago) and Pizza Fight (10% of the proceeds go to The Anti Cruelty Society) tees from Scared Panda for $17 each.

Now I’m hungry. Are you?

Take Care (Or Not)

Ever take a close look at the hang tag of a recently purchased T-Shirt? Chances are you’ll find some washing instructions and a bunch of icons associated with how you should properly care for your brand new tee. For me, the process is simple. Wear, wash, repeat. Those would be the three icons that I would put on the hang tag of my T-Shirt.

Simplified Clothing is far from just another T-Shirt brand. In fact, they are so different that their tees feature the handling, wash and care icons on the front of the T-Shirt instead of just on the hang tag. OK, this might not be the case for every tee from Simplified Clothing. In fact, it’s only the case for one of their tees, aptly named Take Care. But I have to say that it’s a pretty damn awesome T-Shirt. It’s actually my favorite from the Simplified Clothing line, with the Obama smoking a fag* tee coming in at a close second. And since we’re on the topic of taking care of things, President Obama, you’re not doing yourself or your lungs any favors with your nicotine addiction. Get over it!

Take Care and Obama are both available now from Simplified Clothing for $21.99 each, but you can save 15% off your entire purchase by using the coupon code “Cotyshirts” at checkout!

*No, i’m not trying to be derogatory in any way. A good friend of mine from England taught me that it is rather common for an Englishman to call a cigarette a fag. It made me chuckle just a little bit.

Ignoble’s Dino Boy

Santa Monica based Ignoble is known for their screen printed, hand numbered and short run tees. Their latest creation, Dino Boy is no different. Dino Boy is limited to a print run of 50 tees and features a black print on a slate American Apparel shirt.

Not a suit and tie person? If this true of you then this is a T-Shirt that you have to own. The whole point behind this graphic is to tell the world, loud and proud, that the suit and tie salesperson needs to go extinct. NOW.

Extinction is a reality. Scientists will have you believe it is a measureable quality, one that can be monitored, tracked, and traced. So we ask, why the hell do only cool things ever seem to go extinct? Enter Dino Boy.

Don’t get us wrong, ‘DB’ is a COOL graphic, and we’re rocking this shirt proudly. But society willing we’d have the whole lot of suit-and-tie salespeople extinct by morning, no further questions asked.

Dino Boy is available now from Ignoble for $22.95.

Something Strange, In Your Beverage…

It has been two weeks in a row now that Threadless has released a movie parody tee. Last week they poked fun at the Avatar phenomenon by infusing a little Smurf action into the design. This week they featured one of the most beloved geek movies of the 80′s, Ghostbusters!

Something Strange, In Your Beverage… by David Staffell features the nemesis from the original 1984 Ghostbusters film, Stay Puft. Speaking of Stay Puft, did you know that Dan Aykroyd actually came up with the concept for this character?

Dan Aykroyd conceived of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man for his initial script for Ghostbusters the movie. He created the character to show that if “You created this white monster to sell your products, and it seems harmless and puff and cute — but given the right circumstances, everything can be turned back and become evil.”

Dance Party Massacre recently released their Summer 2010 line featuring a slew of T-Shirts and tank tops ready made for the summer heat.
