Co-Tee TV Episode 78: Licensed To FFB, Goblin Culture and Pencils

In this episode of Co-Tee TV I wear Licensed To FFB by Fur Face Boy and review Design Your Own Goblin by Goblin Culture Reinvention, a brand located in Greece and whose theme is fully goblin related. “The subtitle Culture Reinvention stands for the Goblins we believe in. We believe and design helpful, ecology oriented, flexible and Good Luck bringing Goblin excellent quality clothing for Goblin believers!”

Fur Face Boy sent me an insane amount of T-Shirts from their Series 3 Line. I will be featuring the shirts throughout Co-Tee TV Episodes 70-79 so definitely keep an eye out for even more Fur Face Boy in the coming weeks! See Episode 70 of Co-Tee TV for the Fur Face Boy full review.

Coty’s Thoughts:

Design Your Own Goblin by Goblin Culture Reinvention. Pros: A lot to love about this indie clothing brand from Greece. Nothing very special about the basic mailer, what is special is what is hidden inside of the mailing envelope. The custom zipper bag that the T-Shirt was packed in was a pleasant surprise. The reusable zippered bag is screen printed with the Goblin Culture Reinvention logo. This 100% cotton, plum colored T-Shirt, features a vintage fitted cut with a distressed style along the edges (neck, sleeve, bottom of tee). The T-Shirt is a bit form fitting, especially around the arms, so be sure to check out the T-Shirt sizing guide on the Goblin Culture Website before purchasing your tee. The shirt features a large single colored black print on the front and the back. The print is very soft and feels great paired with the comfortable fabric. Also, you’ll find a custom tag on the lower right seam of the T-Shirt as well as a custom neck tag (albeit a small one). What really blew my mind was the included gift that came along with the T-Shirt. A set of wooden colored pencils were included with the tee, and the best part was that the pencils were already sharpened! Considering the quality of the goods and all of the included goodies, I would have to say that $34 is well worth the price of a Goblin Culture Reinvention T-Shirt.

Cons: I think that Goblin Culture Reinvention has a great thing going. I really enjoyed the way that the T-Shirt was packaged and especially loved the included pencil set. Having said that, I thought the cut of the shirt was a bit too fitted for me, especially around the arms. I also thought that the shirt was a bit on the short side. Again, be sure to refer to the sizing chart before ordering! Other than that, I think you’ll love what Goblin Culture Reinvention has to offer.

Price: €24.00 (~$34 US).

Licensed To FFB by Fur Face Boy. Pros: An excellent T-Shirt for any hip-hop fan from the 80′s. Beastie Boys fans will recognize this design as being a parody of the Beastie Boys’ seminal album, Licensed To Ill. Once again, it’s great to see Fur Face Boy taking interests from his youth and incorporating them into the brand. I do wonder, however, why FFB decided to leave out the “I” above of “Fur Face” in the design. If you look at the original album cover, you’ll notice an “I” above “Beastie.” I know, I’m nitpicking! The shirt, as with all other FFB tees, feature custom neck and hang tags, as well as a custom tag on the lower left seam. FFB stickers are also included with the T-Shirt.

Price: $19.99 (On Sale).

Bad Diet + My Cookie Addiction

It’s the COOOOKIE MONSTEEER! Bad Diet by Glenn Jones of Glennz Tees has been a popular vote getter for some time now and is finally available as a T-Shirt. I have to admit that I can totally relate to this T-Shirt because I love a good batch of cookies. In my house, whenever there is a fresh batch of cookies, I transform into a cookie eating machine. Or, whenever there are Chips Ahoy or Oreos in stock inside the pantry, I can guarantee that they wont be there for long when I am at home.

I’m not sure about you, but different cookies provide me with different cookie vibes. Let’s say for instance that I want to feel nostalgic, then I’d go with a tray of store bought Chips Ahoy. If i’m feeling especially nostalgic, I’ll zap a couple of Chips Ahoy cookies in the microwave for a few seconds. I used to love doing this as a kid. And if I’m feeling daring and nostalgic then I’ll pick up a bag of Chewy Chips Ahoy!

Sometimes when I’m at the mall, I get cookie urges. The only place to go is Mrs. Fields. The standard chocolate chip cookie is my favorite but if I’m really craving chocolate then I’ll go for a chocolate chocolate cookie.

If I’m feeling like eating a “Hawaiian” cookie then I’d have to drive myself all the way to Kailua town and order a pound of assorted cookies from Chip and Cookie. The founder of Chip and Cookie was the original founder of Famous Amos cookies. Yes, Wally Amos (founder of Famous Amos) sold the brand to the Kellogg Company and then years later started Chip and Cookie in Hawaii. If you’re ever in Hawaii, I recommend checking out Chip and Cookie, they serve up excellent bite sized cookies. Think Famous Amos before Famous Amos became mass produced.

Of course, nothing beats a home cooked batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies. Moms always make the “best” cookies and my mom is no different. Although she’s been using pre-made store bought dough more often, every once in a while she’ll bake a batch from scratch. These are the best. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies made from scratch and with heart trump anything that can ever be bought.

Flip-Up Zombie T-Shirt Costume

At first glance people might suspect that you’re not properly dressed for Halloween, but the joke will be on them once you reveal the hidden surprise on the underside of this clever tee from DeezTeez. Instantly turn yourself into a zombie by flipping the bottom portion of the T-Shirt on to your head. And booom, you’ve instantly been transformed into a flesh craving zombie. Poke some holes into the eyeball portion of the design and you can walk around all night as a zombie while you trick or treat. Though, your arms may get a little tired. Unless of course, you’re one of those super zombies from 28 Days Later.

The Flip-Up Zombie T-Shirt Costume is available now from DeezTeez for $15.99.

Though, I have to admit that these tees from the recent Resident Evil: Afterlife premier looks much better! [Thanks to David Seibei for the tip!]

The promotional Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles shirts Capcom printed up for Comic-Con (which takes place from July 23-26) have their own dark side: specifically, the inside. The shirts look nice enough when worn normally: a “let your darkside out” slogan adorns the front amid zombie silhouettes, and the game’s logo occupies the back. [via Joystiq]

The 2010 Found Item Clothing Movie Costume Guide

Every year our favorite movie themed T-Shirt site puts together the ultimate movie costume guide. As may know, Found Item Clothing meticulously recreates T-Shirts seen in some of the most iconic movies from the 80s and 90s. Many, if not most, of these tees would otherwise not be found for sale anywhere else.

It’s been tradition at Found Item Clothing to put together a custome guide for prospective buyers to help put together the perfect halloween costume. They tell you exactly what you need to make each costume complete. For instance, you can be Cameron Frye from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off by picking up the Caduceus T-Shirt, along with a pair of black suspenders, khakis, and slip on loafers. They even tell you where you can buy the non-shirt stuff!

“We’ve added 7 new costumes this year, bringing the total to 28, of which 4 are specifically for the ladies and 1 (The Hanson Brothers from Slap Shot), also new this year, is for groups of 3. Every entry features a head-to-toe checklist – which can be printed at home for easy reference – of the required elements, with links and further instructions when appropriate.”

Some of my other favorites from the costume guide include Cadet Mahoney from Police Academy and The Dude from TheBig Lebowski. The FIC halloween costume guide features a bunch of fun, movie related costumes that you can put together on the cheap, and you can check them all out here.

Note: Domestic orders placed by 11:59 (Pacific Standard Time) on Monday, October 25th are guaranteed to arrive on or before the 30th.

Nocturnal Naptime

It’s been a while since I’ve featured a T-Shirt from our friends over at Omunky. Part of the reason why this is the case is because Omunky took a little break from printing new T-Shirts. However, the eco-friendly brand is back and stronger than ever. The new tee is called Nocturnal Naptime and I think it’s their best T-Shirt to date. It’s simple and yet it’s hilarious. I just love how the tinge of yellow pops from the black T-Shirt.

Considering that most owls are nocturnal and hunt during the night, one must wonder why the owl in this particular shirt is dozing off. There can only be one explanation. The owls featured must be either burrowing owls (Speotyto cunicularia) or short-eared owls (Asio flammeus). These types of owls are active during the day and therefore can afford to be lazy at night. There is an explanation for everything!

Nocturnal Naptime is available now from Omunky for $22 but you can score 15% off your entire order by using the coupon code COTY at checkout!

Domestic Pandas

This fun little shirt was spotted over at the popular online game site OMGPOP. I have no idea what the pandas are in reference to, though I have to assume that they are characters from one of the many OMGPOP games. I’m not a big online game player so I wouldn’t know. I was actually just browsing the OMGPOP website because my roommate, who is addicted to these online flash game websites, happened to be on OMGPOP.

I took a look at their blog (after I registered at OMGPOP and played a little BALLOONO*) to see what was up and then I noticed that they had a few T-Shirts for sale. Domestic Pandas caught my eye. I found the thought of “domestic” pandas to be quite hilarious. Not sure why. Maybe it’s because pandas are so damn lazy. They are slow moving. All they do is eat. And eat. And eat. And they eat bamboo no less. But don’t let that fool you. I’ve heard that pandas can be just as crazy as their mono-colored American counterparts aka the brown bear aka Ursus arctos.

And because I’m in a fact giving mood, here are 10 strange and weird panda factoids:

  1. A panda’s diet is 99% bamboo.
  2. Beneath a pandas white fur their skin is black and beneath the black fur their skin is pink.
  3. It takes baby pandas 50-60 days after birth before they can open their eyes.
  4. A panda tooth is seven times bigger than a human tooth.
  5. They spend up to 16 hours a day eating.
  6. A panda cub is about the size of a croissant.
  7. Pandas bleat like goats rather than roaring like bears.
  8. Pandas like alone time.
  9. Pandas don’t hibernate.
  10. Pandas sit while eating.

But back to the T-Shirt. You can pick up Domestic Pandas now from OMGPOP for $15.

*If you want to play a few games of BALLOONO with me on OMGPOP then feel free to add me as a friend!

The Empire Strikes Back to the Future

This is one of those parodies that make no sense. No sense at all. The shirt is called The Empire Strikes Back To The Future and other than the fact that both are iconic science fiction movies, I just don’t see the connection between Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Marty McFly’s Hover Board and Doc Brown’s DeLorean DMC-12.

BUT it is a good reason for me to share with you an awesome video featuring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, albeit an older and more mature Marty McFly. This video seriously made my day.

The video is a promotional ad for Spike TV’s 2010 Scream Awards, the event that honors the best in Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Comics and Horror. The cast of the famous 80′s time traveling flick will be reuniting at the Scream Awards to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the classic.

Oh, and if you want the shirt you can pick it up from TShirt Laundry for $16.

I missed the season premier of SNL but luckily I did catch a small bit on the Mighty Fine blog. The skit featured Perry in a very revealing Elmo tee, courtesy of Might Fine, and makes fun of her recent and controversial appearance on Sesame Street. Take a look:

First of all, you need to buy the T-Shirt, which is available from Might Fine for $23. Then, you cut! No need to be precise either. Watch the short video and you too can be naughty like Katy Perry.

Co-Tee TV Episode 77: FFB Bam, SoillFu and Voltron

In this episode of Co-Tee TV I wear FFB Bam by Fur Face Boy and review Voltron FVR FRSH by SoillFu, an urban streetwear brand based out of Dallas, Texas.

Voltron FVR FRSH by SoillFu. Pros: The shirt features a custom neck tag and tag on the lower left seam. Cons: First off, the wrong size was sent to me so I could not try on the T-Shirt. I did notice a lot of stray markings on the tee. There were stray green markings on the front of the T-Shirt to both the left and right of the center Voltron design. Also, on the inside of the T-Shirt were even more stray brown markings. The sewing work on the custom tags were not done very good, a lot of stray thread  and uneven sewing (see image below). The neck area on the T-Shirt was quite dirty. Also, a quick inspection of the print of the design tells me that it had been previously washed because the ink looked faded, especially the black ink. And most alarming was the very odd odor of the T-Shirt. All of this leads me to conclude that the T-Shirt has been previously worn. I was not blown away by this product from Soillfu. All of this distracted me from the actual design, but even the design did not do it for me and would not be something that I would wear. Price: $24.00.

FFB Bam! by Fur Face Boy. Pros: Another excellent comic inspired T-Shirt from Fur Face Boy. The design itself is actually based on “Sweet Dreams Baby!” by pop artist, Roy Lichtenstein. This five-color print features a custom hang tag and neck tag, as well as a custom FFB tag on the left seam of the tee. As with all FFB tees, this shirt comes with FFB logo stickers and is packaged in a custom FFB plastic bag. Price: $32.

Regan Smith Clarke Keeps Fall 2010 Release Keeps It Real

I was really imprssed with Regan Smith Clarke’s original release earlier this year. I thought it was fresh, original and had a distinct style. His Fall 2010 line continues to bring the freshness. That vintage look infused with modern styling make this release a real winner. My favorite piece from the new line is definitely Old Inventions. I love the sharpness of the design and the smooth lines. It doesn’t scream RSC like the other designs, instead, it’s a bit more subtle and I can appreciate that.

Along with the four new RST T-Shirts, you’ll also find an Old Inventions long sleeve sweater in a blue and yellow colorway, and a Lack of Quality tote bad (just be sure to fill it up with quality goods). The T-Shirts are priced at $24 a piece, while the sweater and the tote go for $28 and $12, respectively.

By the way, take a look at the photos below featuring Regan Smith Clarke goods (along with the actual Regan Smith Clarke) in real life at the Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco. And you too can look just as sexy by picking up a Regan Smith Clarke T-Shirt ;)
