Comic-Con 2011 is being held from July 21-24 this year and like last year, I’ll be costume spotting some of the best and most wacky costumes to be seen! I always get a kick at seeing what people decide to dress up as to Comic-Con. My favorite from Day 2 has got to be Obi-Wan Kenobi walking amongst those muggles!

The fine people over at Arteefact has turned a line from one of my favorite movies, Fight Club, into a great type tee. If you haven’t seen Fight Club, and I am serious about this, you must sit yourself down and watch it. Especially if you want to glance at a big cock for a split second. Seriously, a big cock flashes across the screen towards the end. A single frame of unadultered cock. How the heck did I digress into talking about cock? Anyway, here’s are a few lines from the movie to give you some context for the T-Shirt.
Tyler Durden: Fuck damnation, man! Fuck redemption! We are God’s unwanted children? So be it! Narrator: OK. Give me some water! Tyler Durden: Listen, you can run water over your hand and make it worse or…look at me… or you can use vinegar and neutralize the burn. Narrator: Please let me have it… *Please*! Tyler Durden: First you have to give up, first you have to *know*… not fear… *know*… that someday you’re gonna die.
Death is inevitable. Death is a bummer. And that is why everyone should live to the fullest!
Will Die is available now from Arteefact for $28.30. By the way, Arteefact is based in Greece – how cool is that!
In this episode of Co-Tee TV I wear Castle Graysull Jumper by David Gruss (aka Griggitee) for TeeFury and review Chapter 1: Defying Nature by The N-Spired Story, a brand that specializes in allowing people to share their stories with the world and help them come to life through art, fashion and a social act. The N-Spired Story tells the story of the world one T-Shirt at a time. They’ve put together a very informative film that I’ve posted below.

Coty’s Thoughts:
Chapter 1: Defying Nature by The N-Spired Story (designed by Grande).Pros: I absolutely loved, loved, loved the packaging! The black and yellow colors on the packaging worked perfectly together, and the brand name just jumps out at you. The T-Shirt itself is tagless and features a screen printed label, a rather large and detailed one at that. Very artsy design, featuring a large piece of rock being carried by a tiny bird. The print itself is quite large but soft. The T-Shirt is nice and soft, and a bit looser than the typical American Apparel tees that I am used to. If I had to guess, I would say that the design is a Direct-To-Garment print (however, I can’t verify this) [Update: it has been confirmed by The N-Spired Story that all the T-Shirts are screen printed by hand].
What’s interesting about this T-Shirt design is that it is based on a true story. The N-Spried took that story of a 61 year-old potato farmer from the small town of Beech Forest, Australia who defied nature by doing what most people thought was impossible, especially for a man at his age. Cliff Young, in gumboots and overalls, not only won the 875 km Westfield Sydney to Melbourne Ultra Marathon in 5 days, 15 hours and 4 minutes (only sleeping 12 hours during the marathon), shattering all previous records by nearly a day and a half, but also has provided the world with what might be the one of the most inspirational and least-known accomplishments in history. Designer Grande took this story of Cliff young and turned it into a piece of art.
Proceeds from Defying Nature go to a charity.
Suggestions: My main suggestion would possibly be in improving the print of the design – maybe screen print if they aren’t already doing so. [Update: it has been confirmed by The N-Spired Story that all the T-Shirts are screen printed by hand]. Other than that, I think that the N-Spired Story is a great idea. Not only do you get the T-Shirt, but you also get to read about an inspirational story, and you also help out a charity. Neat!
Price: 19.95 €

Bad tempered. Moody. Don’t Admit To Anything. One could argue that I can be all three of those things (sometimes at the same time). Then again, most of the time I’m a pretty fun and easy going guy. And that is basically what UQ Tee is all about, mixing our virtues and vices, our good and bad characteristics. Each tee design features human contradictions printed on the back of the shirt.
The idea of UQ Tee was derived from Hugo Quinta of Lisbon, Portugal. It’s a spin-off from a web project of his called Life Paper.
“This idea is a spin-off of another project of mine, called life paper (available only in Portugal), that consists of surprising someone on one day, by taking him/her to visit places related with his/her life past and present to meet important friends and family in each one of them. Last year I did a postcard campaign to promote this project, focused on bad characteristics from each one of my surprised customers. Some people told me that it would be fun to make a brand of t-shirts based on the same concept, which I did. So here I am.” -Hugo Quinta
The shirts are available in in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. If you love wordplay, then I think that you will dig these T-Shirts. My favorite from the bunch is I’m Moody, which also features the words but sweet scribbled on the other end of an arrow. Love it! My only gripe with these T-Shirts is that they all seem to feature the same front design, featuring the UQ Tee logo and the words Do You Want To See The Back of Me? I think it would be cool if it was just the back main design placed on the front of the T-Shirt.
In this episode of Co-Tee TV I wear an exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles T-Shirt from Nickelodeon. Last March, Nickelodeon flew me up to Los Angeles for a sneak peak of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles television series (to be released in 2012). I talk about the event and what I thought of the sneak peek, or the mutation in progress. I hint at reviewing a tee from The N-Spired Story, but the episode goes long and so I end up reviewing The N-Spired Story in episode 85 of Co-Tee TV (check back tomorrow for that).
By the way, this is a little weird but I am playing catch up. You see, I recored a bunch of episodes earlier this year but never posted them. As such, some of the things that I talk about will seem grossly out of date. My apologies. Casualties like this happen when you’re stressing out over finishing a PhD. Needless to say, I will be posting these episodes over the next few days!

Coty’s Thoughts:
Exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles T-Shirt by Nickelodeon (designer unknown).Pros: For the most part, I review the event and sneak peek of the new TMNT show in this episode and not really the T-Shirt. However, I have to say that I love the new look of the turtles, which is featured on the T-Shirt. And to my surprise, it wasn’t printed on a cheap Hanes T-Shirt, instead they used an American Apparel blank.
Price: Not available; given to those who attended the sneak peek event at Nickelodeon studios.
[NOTE: I usually have an embedded gallery of photos right around here in the review post, but for some reason, I can't seem to locate the photos that I took for Episodes 83 and 84. Instead of prolonging the wait to get these episodes out, I have decided to go ahead and publish the post minus the gallery. So don't worry, the galleries aren't gone for good, they'll just be missing in Episodes 83 and 84].
I used to LOVE playing Operation as a kid! An uncle of mine had a vintage set, probably from the late 60′s, that I used to love to play with. I wonder if he still has it? Whenever I played, I would concentrate super hard and was very careful in the hopes of not getting zapped! Well, it wasn’t a real zap, but it made this horrifying zapping sound. That counts, right?
Never played the game before? Well then you’re missing out. Go buy it now.
Speaking of the classic Hasbro boardgame, 604Republic has released an awesome Operation / Alien mashup tee. God, I would hate to have a little baby alien brewing in me. Someone did that dude on the operation table a huge favor.
Directors Dimitri Pailhe and Julien Potart have put together something that looks to be very special. They’ve made a documentary that is focused completely on T-Shirts. Yes, an entire documentary about T-Shirts. Of course, this should peak your interest considering you’re perusing a T-Shirt blog. Tee Shirt Stories: Cotton, Art & Fun was broadcast in France on Canal+ on June 29, 2011. Unfortunately for me, I don’t live in France and therefore I haven’t been able to take a peak at this documentary. So since I haven’t seen it, a full review will indeed have to wait!
In the meantime, you can go ahead and order the documentary on DVD. It’s available now over at the Colette webstore for €25 – about the price of the T-Shirt! OK, I’m going to go ahead and place my order now so that I can give you guys a proper review!
“This documentary offers an immersion in the culture of the tee-shirt, this simple piece of clothing has become a work of art for some and counter culture symbol for others. Featuring Dov Charney, Richard Hell, Daniel Johnston, Tony Alva, Jim Philips, Court Johnson, Grotesk, Earsnot, Pedro Winter and So-Me, Mark Cobrasnake and Jonny Makeup….”
