Eat More Kale: Chik-Fil-A Big Bully?

Bo Muller-Moore has a beef with Chik-Fil-A. Or, Chik-Fil-A has a beef with Bo Muller-Moore. Muller-Moore is a folk artist who started a business centered around the phrase “eat more kale.” The more problem is that the fast food chain Chik-Fil-A has a similar trademarked phrase, “eat mor chikin.”

Apparently, the Chik-Fil-A folks feel that the phrase “eat more kale” will confuse Chik-Fil-A fans. A lawyer for Chick-fil-A sent a letter to Muller-Moore saying that his kale phrase “is likely to cause confusion of the public and dilutes the distinctiveness of Chick-fil-A’s intellectual property and diminishes its value.”

BULLSHIT.

I’m totally with Bo Muller-Moore on this one. Seriously Chik-Fil-A, you should consider focusing more of your time, energy, and resources on improving your chicken entrees. Leave the kale alone.

One Comment to “Eat More Kale: Chik-Fil-A Big Bully?”

I’m always amazing at how corporations imagine their customers as complete morons. How can people confuse eating more kale with eating more chicken? Does Chick-fil-a really think that a person will stop eating their chicken in favor of kale? Really? The play on the “eat more chikin” is mutually beneficial to both parties: free marketing for Chick-fil-a and more sales for Bo Muller-Moore. The funny thing is that now Chick-fil-a is seen as the bad guys when they should have incorporated the shirt into their marketing plan.
