Magic

Call it magic
Call it true
I call it magic
When I’m with you
And I just got broken
Broken into two
Still I call it magic
When I’m next to you

Magic is the first single from Coldplay’s upcoming album, Ghost Stories. The follow-up to Mylo Xyloto is expected to be released on May 19, 2014. I’m excited for this. Here’s a sneak peak at the track list for the new album:

A Weezer Snuggie

A few hours ago I picked up the new Weezer album, Raditude. In fact I am enjoying it as I type this very blog. But to my dismay, I find out after the fact that I COULD have picked up the weezer album from their official website packaged with an official Weezer Snuggie. I feel like I got jipped. I feel like I should have gotten that blue warm and fuzzy Weezer Snuggie.

Then again, I live in Hawaii. What would I do with a Snuggie! But still, how amazingly and dorkingly cool is that – you can actually buy the new Weezer album with a Weezer Snuggie ($30). Seriously, that is amazeballs.

The only saving grace is that I picked up the new album for just $3.99 from Amazon DRM free. And having done one listen through of the album, I can say that it is worth the price of the 4 bones paid and then some. It’s fun, energetic and smart. Pick up your copy of Weezer’s Raditude from Amazon now for $3.99.

Random Artistic Design or RadIsRad

It’s not every day that I get T-Shirt blog posting material from YouTube. In fact, this might be a first! I spotted this RadIsRad (short for Random Artistic Design) tee on one of Chris Cendana’s YouTube music videos. He posted a video of himself singing a cover of The Fray’s Never Say Never and at the beginning of the video he gives a shout out to RadIsRad while he sings the song in the RadIsRad Elliot shirt. Neato! Too bad I have absolutely zero singing ability or else I’d do the same. You can pick up Elliot from RadIsRad for $19.95.

If you  haven’t heard of Chris Cendana be sure to check out his YouTube profile. He’s a filipino singer/songwriter and is one of those people that have become semi-famous via YouTube. He even released an album of original songs titled Waiting, that is available now on iTunes!

Jack Johnson’s Sleep Through The Static Tour Posters

I discovered these posters on Jack Johnson’s site and absolutely love them. These are limited edition posters made for Jack’s 2008 Sleep Through The Static Tour. Each of these posters represent a different city from Jack’s summer tour and each of the 15 posters were made by a different artist. I just love the colors and the artwork. Don’t you think they go well with Jack’s music?

By the way, a collection of Sleep Through The Static remixes were released on iTunes this past week. On it you can find remixes of Hope (2 versions), Losing Keys, Monsoon, Angel, They Do, They Don’t, and If I Had Eyes. There are also three videos that come with this release, including a Sleep Through The Static/I Love You and Buddha Too, Enemy and Adrift. Be sure to check it out!

Here are 6 of my faves of the 15 limited edition posters. What do you think about them?

And to keep the Jack Johnson/Apple theme going, here’s a video of Jack performing at the Apple Media Event a few weeks ago, when they unveiled those disturbingly beautiful new iPod Nano’s.

Conor Oberst Does Moab

I’ve been really digging the new self-titled solo album by Bright Eyes frontman, Conor Oberst. I have to say that the album is very Bob Dylan like, very introspective and very soothing. The album was released in early August but I’ve only recently started playing it (over and over). If you’re into the singer/songwriter/acoustic genre then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t like Conor Oberst. Here’s a video of him performing on the Late Late Show.

I used up your compassion
So I’ve come to make a trade
You can hate me but just love me in return
And if I know where to find you
I’ll stay out of your way
I won’t come beg to borrow all the happiness you earned

I’ll just slide back down to the bottom
While you make your place in the hills

There’s nothing that the road cannot heal
There’s nothing that the road cannot heal
Washed under the blacktop
Gone beneath my wheels
There’s nothing that the road cannot heal

They say the sun won’t burn forever
but that’s a science too exact
I can prove it -
Watch, we’re crossing the state line
See those headlights coming towards us?
That’s someone going back
To a town they said they’d never,yeah -
They swore it on their lives

But you can’t break out of a circle
That you never knew you were in

There’s nothing that the road cannot heal
There’s nothing that the road cannot heal
Washed under the blacktop
Gone beneath my wheels
There’s nothing that the road cannot heal

Some would spend their precious time
trying to decorate their lives
Taking measurements for some new look they want

So from one to ten – ten’s exactly what I am
Zero being everything I’m not

Tell me what you like
Is it less than five?
Is it less than five?

There’s nothing that the road cannot heal
There’s nothing that the road cannot heal
When I make it to Moab
I’ll get my canteen filled
There’s nothing that the road cannot heal
Washed under the blacktop
Gone beneath my wheels
There’s nothing that the road cannot heal

Guerrero and Shimabukuro Cover The Beatles’ Something

Here’s a great cover of the Beatles’ “Something” featuring YouTube Ukulele star Aldrine Guerrero and International ukulele superstar, Jake Shimabukuro. Credit goes to Ryan for sending me this Beatles cover, I guess he was inspired after seeing that post I did last week on the Korean kid sing “Hey Judge.”

Anyhow, some history on this splendid song. “Something” was actually featured on the 1969 album, Abbey Road. And even more interesting, “Something” was the first Beatles single written by the late George Harrison. “Something” is second only to “Yesterday” as the most covered Beatles song.

Something in the way she moves,
Attracts me like no other lover.
Something in the way she woos me.
I don’t want to leave her now,
You know I believe and how.

Somewhere in her smile she knows,
That I don’t need no other lover.
Something in her style that shows me.
I don’t want to leave her now,
You know I believe and how.

You’re asking me will my love grow,
I don’t know, I don’t know.
You stick around now, it may show,
I don’t know, I don’t know.

Something in the way she knows,
And all I have to do is think of her.
Something in the things she shows me.
I don’t want to leave her now.
You know I believe and how.
