Super Heroic Minimalism

Super Heroic Minimalism is an awesome new Threadless T-Shirt by designer Jonah Block that features two of my favorite Marvel characters in minimalistic form. Both Spider-Man and Iron Man are represented in the design, but surprisingly missing from the print is the caped crusader aka the Dark Knight aka Batman. It looks like Threadless legal decided to tweak the design to exclude my favorite cowled superhero.

Take a look below to see the design that is currently available for sale as well as the original submitted design. And further down you’ll see Ant-Man modification that Block made as replacements for the original Batman design.

What do you think? Did Threadless yank Batman from Super Heroic Minimalism for legal reasons or because they felt it should have been an all Marvel ensemble?

In any case, if you like this one then I think you should grab it ASAP because Threadless legal could pull the design all together at anytime!

Super Heroic Minimalism is available now from Threadless for $18. Super power not included.

Co-Tee TV Episode 72: Fantastic Fur Face Boy, Vaughn de Heart and a French Lesson

In this episode of Co-Tee TV I wear The Fantastic Fur Face Boy and review the Les Gens Courageux by Vaughn de Heart, a brand that was born out of one persons love for fashion and a single random moment.

Fur Face Boy sent me an insane amount of T-Shirts from their Series 3 Line. I will be featuring the shirts throughout Co-Tee TV Episodes 70-79 so definitely keep an eye out for even more Fur Face Boy in the coming weeks! See Episode 70 of Co-Tee TV for the Fur Face Boy full review.

Coty’s Thoughts:

Les Gens Courageux by Vaughn de Heart. Pros: Les Gens Courageux comes packaged in a large custom black Vaughn de Heart plastic bag and is further wrapped in a separate plastic package (great way to protect the T-Shirt during the shipment). This V-Neck shirt is wonderfully soft and is nicely form fitting. I love that the neck hole is not extremely wide and long like many V-Necks that I have experienced in the past, instead it is just right. The single color, black print on the front features excellent typography and the print itself is not too think. Each Vaughn de Heart shirt comes packaged with a Vaughn de Heart drawstring canvas bag for free. This is definitely a nice surprise for anyone that orders from Vaughn de Heart. Also included in the package was a Vaughn de Heart sticker. Cons: I wasn’t the biggest fan of the print on the left sleeve since it was a bit thick. I also thought that the print on the front was enough as is, since the simplicity and message of the front is what makes the shirt a solid pick. Price: $13 but you can save 10% off your order by using the coupon code “COTY” at checkout.

Threadless Comics-on Tees

Our favorite little crowdsourcing T-Shirt company that could, Threadless, released a series of tees in celebration of Comic-Con! The series is called Threadless Comics-On Tees and features the work of some very talented artists including Jill Thompson, Cliff Chiang, Tony Moore and Art Baltazar.

What’s especially cool about these 4 shirts are that they all follow a single storyline, which was written by Thompson. Is this first volume of many Threadless Comics-On Tees to come? The idea is great so I wouldn’t mind seeing, reading and wearing future volumes!

The shirts are individually priced at $20 a piece but you can grab all 4 as part of the “Collector’s Edition 4 Pack” which is priced at $70 (you save $10 by going this route).

Every Night I Have the Same Dream, Issue 2, Vol. 1 by Tony Moore.

“When Jill Thompson asked me to join this project with herself, Cliff Chiang, and Art Balthazar, I was very excited. Threadless is a mainstay around my house, and the other contributors are all professionals I’ve known and admired for quite some time. But then there was the reality of standing beside those fine folks, and with the company that brings so many great shirt designs to life, and when…”

Scott Pilgrim Custom Printing Press at Comic-Con 2010

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is billed as being “an epic of epic epicness” and I believe that to be the truth. I’m excited for this film, not only because the comic was awesome but because Michael Cera is the perfect actor to play Scott Pilgrim. It seems as if Cera’s found a little niche for himself in Hollywood playing adolescents with issues. Needless to say, Cera is the perfect Pilgrim.

With Scott Pilgrim vs. the World set to premier on August 13, it is no surprise that they have invaded Comic-Con 2010. And what better way to promote the movie than to give away free Scott Pilgrim T-Shirt. And what’s even better than that? Setting up custom printing presses so that fans can come up, choose their T-Shirt color and then screen print their favorite Scott Pilgrim design. Very cool, highly interactive and definitely memorable!

From the looks of the images, there were five different, single color prints that you could choose from. Take a look below at all of the action that you probably missed out on! Jealous much?

Green Means Go

The latest T-Shirt from our friends at Shirt.Woot comes to us just in time for Comic-Con! The shirt, which by the way is available only for a few more hours, features what looks like The Green Lantern. I say “what looks like” because we know that with copyright issues and all, that just can’t be the “real” Green Lantern. Though It does in fact look like the Green Lantern is using his powers to allow him access to the HOV lane (high occupancy vehicle lane) for the non-drivers and especially those who don’t drive in traffic.

This shirt just leads me to wonder whether or not Superheroes are allowed to text while they drive. They have to be better at multitasking than mere humans. Thoughts?

Green Means Go was designed by T-Shirt extraordinaire Robbie Lee and is available now from Shirt.Woot for $10 and is available now for the next 8 hours.

The Fur Face Boy Summer 2010 Series

Our friend Ha Mai of Fur Face Boy just released some teaser photos of his upcoming Summer 2010 Series, and man am I drooling! The summer series, will be released this Saturday in Dallas, Texas at Adikt Footwear. Included in the new line are 4 brand new Fur Face Boy T-Shirts, 1 Tank and special Fur Face Boy x Adikt collaboration tee.

The FFB x Adikt collaboration tee is limited to a print of 36 so be sure to grab yours before they are gone forever (remember, Fur Face Boy rarely, if ever, does reprints). I have to say that I am really digging this collab tee. It’s a solid follow up to the super popular Little FFB shirt that I sported in Episode 71 of Co-Tee TV. I’m just jealous that I won’t be able to head down to Adikt to grab one.

The rest of the summer line includes some 90’s nostalgia, more comic book references and the return of Bearmaibrick!

No word yet on pricing for the new FFB tees, but you can expect it to be at or around the $32 price point of other FFB T-Shirts.
