The Floppy Disk: Kids Today Have No Idea What This Is

So sad, but so true. Reminds of that time I went to Best Buy and asked a salesperson whether or not they sold Record Players. You know, those Ion ones that you can hook up to your modern day computer. Yes, people still make record players (with USB built in even!) and yes, people still listen to records. Not so much with the Floppy Disk. I haven’t seen or used a floppy disk since maybe early last decade. It’s 2012 and it’s now all about the cloud.

Kids Today Have No Idea What This Is is available now from SnorgTees for $19.95.

Domestic Pandas

This fun little shirt was spotted over at the popular online game site OMGPOP. I have no idea what the pandas are in reference to, though I have to assume that they are characters from one of the many OMGPOP games. I’m not a big online game player so I wouldn’t know. I was actually just browsing the OMGPOP website because my roommate, who is addicted to these online flash game websites, happened to be on OMGPOP.

I took a look at their blog (after I registered at OMGPOP and played a little BALLOONO*) to see what was up and then I noticed that they had a few T-Shirts for sale. Domestic Pandas caught my eye. I found the thought of “domestic” pandas to be quite hilarious. Not sure why. Maybe it’s because pandas are so damn lazy. They are slow moving. All they do is eat. And eat. And eat. And they eat bamboo no less. But don’t let that fool you. I’ve heard that pandas can be just as crazy as their mono-colored American counterparts aka the brown bear aka Ursus arctos.

And because I’m in a fact giving mood, here are 10 strange and weird panda factoids:

  1. A panda’s diet is 99% bamboo.
  2. Beneath a pandas white fur their skin is black and beneath the black fur their skin is pink.
  3. It takes baby pandas 50-60 days after birth before they can open their eyes.
  4. A panda tooth is seven times bigger than a human tooth.
  5. They spend up to 16 hours a day eating.
  6. A panda cub is about the size of a croissant.
  7. Pandas bleat like goats rather than roaring like bears.
  8. Pandas like alone time.
  9. Pandas don’t hibernate.
  10. Pandas sit while eating.

But back to the T-Shirt. You can pick up Domestic Pandas now from OMGPOP for $15.

*If you want to play a few games of BALLOONO with me on OMGPOP then feel free to add me as a friend!

Andy Vs. Apple

A few months ago I featured Exploded Andy, a shirt from the guys that brought us some of my favorite Exploded tees, including Exploded 128, Exploded Phone and iSteamMac. After a string of Apple centric T-Shirts we now get two Android happy shirts in a row! What is an Apple fanboy like me to do about this?!

Of course, spin it and interpret it as only an Apple mega fan could! And it is for that reason that I actually really enjoy this shirt, which was designed by illustrator Chris Bishop.

Some might see this shirt as a pro Android tee. You might see Andy breaking loose and attacking the Apple way. Not me. No way! To me, Andy, that green Andoid character is much like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man character from Ghostbusters. Big, fat, and slow. Sound familiar? If so, because those are all characters that both the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and the Android OS and its various handsets have in common. Think Droid X. Big and slow. Yuck.

And at the end of the day, what happened to the Stay Puft Mashmallow Man? He died a horrible death. Apple might not have proton packs to destroy big and fat Andy, but what they do have is even better. It’s called Rabid Apple Fans. Myself included.

To me, I see here Apple fighting quite valiantly. They are the good guys. They are fighting the big battle against the fat and ugly Marshmallow known as Andy.  Fight that fight, Apple. Keep on fighting.

Andy Vs. Apple is available now in T-Shirt and poster form. Both the T-Shirt and posters are priced at $19 a piece.

Coty’s Thoughts:

Multislacking-Slacker by Teezeria. Pros: Super fun design! Have a slacker in your life? Or maybe you’re a self-proclaimed slacker. If so then this is the shirt for you! Because Teezeria prints their tees on demand, you have the freedom to choose any color shirt you’d like the design printed on. One of the best parts about receiving a T-Shirt from Teezeria is the custom pizza box like packaging. The designs are printed on American Apparel tees so you know you are getting a quality shirt. T-Shirt also came with specific washing instructions so you know how to handle the direct-to-garment print. Cons: The main drawback of doing on demand direct-to-garment prints is that the prints don’t come out as soft as some of the screen printed tees do. For instance, the Multislacking Slacker print had somewhat of a vinyl like feel to it. The positive is that the print tends to soften up afte the first wash. Price: $20.

iSteamMac by Kevin Tong. Pros: As a true MacHead, I can tell you that any Mac fanatic would be thrilled to receive and wear iSteamMac. This da Vinci like print features a two color design on a cream American Apparel T-Shirt. The perfect shirt for any Apple fanboy. Price: $20.

Coty’s Thoughts:

Say Anything (Steve Jobs) by Might Tees. Pros: Super soft shirt! Might Tees uses Alternative Apparel organic shirts along with water-based inks so the print is nice and soft as well. Shirt comes packaged in a nice eco-friendly box made from recycled cardboard and is wrapped in recycled paper. Perfect shirt to get for any Apple geek – especially one that worships at the church of Steve Jobs. Cons: My only con for this shirt would be the wide neck opening, other than that – love it! Price: $26.99

Say Anything by Might Tees

I Visited The Mothership by Apple, Inc. Pros: If you ever visit the Apple Headquarters then you must get your hands on this shirt  because you wont be able to find it elsewhere (except maybe on eBay for an inflated price). It makes for the perfect conversation starter. I guarantee that every time you wear this shirt people will ask: where’s the mothership? Cons: Makes me feel like an Apple retail store employee – just a little bit. Price: $16.

Split Reason $50 Mac Vs. PC Giveaway

Sigh, this debate may never end. Nonetheless, you can score a $50 Split Reason gift certificate by coming up with the best and humorous logic explaining “why” their platform of choice stands above the other will win. Check out this blog post to see how you can win. Or, if you just want this shirt, you can by Witty Retort straight from SplitReason.com for $18.95.

As for me, the clear choice is the Macintosh platform. I’ve gotten into many heated discussions arguing for the Mac. I have stood by the Apple brand even during the dark years (mid 90’s anyone?). And I’ve converted a ton of friends to switch from PC’s to Mac’s. Simply put, I love the Mac platform and the Apple brand.

Why a Mac you ask? I’m going to bypass all of the minutiae and skip talking about processors, hardware, RAM, gaming capability (or lack of), buttons on the mouse, GUI, and ease of use. Instead, I’ll make just one simple point. Mac users just seriously love using their computers.

Trash and Nightmare from Glennz Tees

Looks like Glennz Tees is making voter selected tees a standard now. Here are two of his latest designs, Trash (top) and Nightmare (bottom). Trash is available on a slate colored American Apparel blank and Nightmare on a forest blank. Both are available now for $19.95.

Trash is a must-have for geeks! That trash can, for some reason, reminds me of the System 7 iteration of the Mac OS.

In other news, Glennz Tees has begun selling children sized tees. Currently, there are 7 children sized tees available for $19.95.

Pre Computers by Glennz Tees

This is the newest design from Glennz Tees and it doesn’t disappoint! Glennz Tees founder, Glenn Jones, never fails to impress me with the wit of his designs. This particular design, Pre Computers, brings us back to the days when interacting with other humans for fun and enjoyment was the norm. When sport was an actual physical activity not just twiddling of thumbs. The design is printed on a royal blue American Apparel tee and is going for $19.95.
