Collaborate & Dream: Oven Fresh Dreams X Yema Yema

I’ve been a fan of the Oven Fresh Dreams Collaborate & Dream series for a long time now. Recently, Mr. EasyBake (the man behind the brand), unveiled the latest addition to this collection. The T-Shirt is a collaboration between OFD and Yema Yema. If you haven’t heard of Yema Yema then you definitely need to get out from under that rock and check out her stuff. Yema Yema specializes in crazy monster-ish creature-based designs that are super fun. In the OFD calloborate tee she uses this strength to turn Mr. EasyBakes passion of cooking into a work of art. Think cookies gone insane!

The artistic mind who brought this shirt to life is none other than the talented Yema. She is a mother and a full-time graphic designer/illustrator. I had the pleasure of meeting her through my network of t-shirt buddies and I am forever grateful. Yema’s style is fun and youthful, which is why we get along so well. Ever since I started baking under Oven Fresh Dreams, I have felt very “alive” and working with Yema took that feeling a notch further. The art of baking is similar to designing because it allows you to make your dreams into a delicious looking reality!

The shirt isn’t available for sale just yet, but when it does you can be sure that I’ll let you know about it. If the other tees in the OFD store are any indication, you can expect to spend about $24.99 for the tee.

By the way, I highly suggest that you check out the official Oven Fresh Dreams Tumblr. It will make you drool.

As a side note, I thought this was pretty cool. It’s printed useable parchment paper featuring step-by-step instructions on how to make a pie crust. It was created by Ashley Ross of the Pastry Training Center (Vancouver, B.C.) to promote classes. Nifty!

The Mysterious Mr. Vegan Hunter

Our old friend Jon Wye has just released his newest T-Shirt which is part of his Pirate Chef series. The shirt is called The Mysterious Mr. Vegan Hunter and it features a fatherly rabbit who is relaxing in his rabbit-hole study, reminiscing on his days of great harvesting. He is even taking a little time to enjoy a good vintage of carrot juice whilst polishing his most trusted shovel.

I think the shirt features a super fun design that would have probably gone very well with the Threadless crowd if it had been submitted there. You’ll also find the Pirate Chef logo printed on the back of the T-Shirt.

The Mysterious Mr. Vegan Hunter is printed on a super soft 100% combed cotton Olive T-Shirt and is available now from Jon Wye for $29. For extra savings, use the coupon code “5up” for $5 off your entire order!

Coty’s Thoughts:

Muerte Cooking Worms by Tolky Monkys. Pros: Fun shirt, if you like funky characters that have a background story than you’ll probably enjoy this shirt as well as the rest of the Tolky Monkys line. The tee features a custom embroidered necktag and comes with a Tolky Monkys hangtag. The shirt was individually packaged in a separate plastic bag within the mailer which is good for keeping the shirt protected during transit. Design is printed on a 100% pre-shrunk cotton tee and features a reinforced cover-seamed collar in Elastano (Lycra/Spandex) for a better fit. The collar, sleeves and lower hem are double stitched. Cons: The print was a bit thick and vinyl feeling, but it may become softer after the first wash. Price: €20 ($28 US)

And here’s a closeup of the character that Tolky Monkys drew for me! Thanks again Tolky Monkys, I think it’s awesome!

I Listen To Bands That Don’t Even Exist Yet by Evan Ferstenfeld and available at Threadless. Pros: Perfect shirt for any pompous music lover. We all know one of those. Get that person this shirt. Cons: The print, although looks like a solid colored print in the product shots are not really so. The resulting print looks like what happens when you have a faulty inkjet printer whose head needs cleaning (see gallery photos to see what I mean). I would have preferred just a solid brown colored print for the type. Price: $15.

Coty’s Thoughts:

The Viereck by BLXNK and available at LIMITEES. Pros: Each shirt is individually packaged in a plastic bag, custom hangtag, printed on an American Apparel blank so the fit and feel is great. You’ll like this shirt if you’re a minimalist and/or an art aficionado. Cons: Some people might “not get” this shirt. I say interpretation should be left to the buyer! The print on this shirt was the thickest of the four tees reviewed here. Price: 28 EUR ($40).

The Viereck

Save The Foie by Stove Monkeys. Pros: Fun designs, especially for those who love Foie Gras! Unsure of what kind of shirt was used but the fit was good and the cotton was soft. The shirt comes individually packaged which helps to keep out odors and liquid during shipping. Screen printed in three different areas: back, front and inside neck. Tagless for itch free comfort. This shirt should make you smile, if not, then you’re not human! Cons: Not much, I really dig this shirt! Price: $25.

Art of the Fan Signature Shirt by Art of the Fan. Pros: Art of the fan is the place to go if you’re a fantasy football fan, they’ve got this niche cornered! The signature shirt is the first Art of the Fan tee not produced by CafePress so that is a huge plus. I thought that this tee had the softest print of all four shirt reviewed. Perfect shirt to get for members of your Fantasy Football league or to give out as prizes! Cons: Not tagless. Most people will argue that the Hanes tee is one of the drawbacks to this shirt but I was pleasantly suprised to see how comparable it was in fit to American Apparel blanks. This was the only shirt of the four reviewed that did not come individually packaged in a separate plastic bag. Price: $24.99.

Dinosaurs Against Creationism by Ban T-Shirts. Pros: I love the colorway of this shirt. I’m a fan of this Grass Green American Apparel blank! You don’t necessarily buy this shirt for design but rather for the message. If you’re a fan of Darwin and evolution then this shirt is a must have. Cons: Not tagless. Some might say the design is a bit cartoony, but I dig it. Price: $17.95 but use the coupon code “coty” to receive 10% off your entire order at Ban T-Shirts.
