I’m telling you, there’s a lot of indie goodness brewing in Dallas. From the awesome Fur Face Boy to the up-and-coming Sleepy Dan Clothing, Dallas is experiencing an indie apparel uprising of sorts. Another addition to the fold is Fresh Kaufee. Founder Joonbug McIntosh first caught my eye on Twitter, when he posted about Episode 88 of Co-Tee TV. You might remember that in that episode I talked about Javaboi Industries. Javaboi is a brand whose central theme is coffee. The T-Shirts come packed in little coffee bags, however, in Episode 88, I talked about how it would be great if, when opening the packaging, the T-Shirts actually smelled like coffee beans. I thought it was a great idea. And it looks it was, since Fresh Kaufee is already doing this! Awesome. Rad!
So, two brands based on coffee. If this were Iron Chef, which brand do I think reigns supreme? Hands down, I would go with Fresh Kaufee. For me, the Fresh Kaufee designs are much more wearable. I also love the Fresh Kaufee Java Joe logo and their other logo and insignia tees. They’re real fun with a streetwear vibe. Fresh Kaufee has also got some insanely detailed designs that are very Wotto-like, check out Ghost Roast when you get the chance. I’d love to get my hands on some Fresh Kaufee tees to actually how the two brands compare in terms of T-Shirt build, printing quality, and packaging [UPDATE: I got a hold of some Fresh Kaufee packaging, and they look dope 0 love it! It's like you're receiving a fresh bag of gourmet coffee beans. See below for shots of the Fresh Kaufee packaging]. But so far, I’m really digging the Fresh Kaufee designs – AND they smell like coffee!

Goody Two (Vans) by The Good Child.Pros: There really seems to be a renaissance of indie T-Shirt designers coming out of the state of Texas. The Good Child is yet another example of a Texas based brand doing it right. There is a lot to like about the box that The Good Child sent over to me. The first thing that caught my eye was the attention to detail. Each of the T-Shirts were hand-rolled and then tied by string. The ends of the string was even burnt to prevent it from unraveling. Another nice touch was the sticker that was tucked between the T-Shirt and the knot of the string. It’s always awesome when you order a T- and get a free item – plus, people love stickers! As for the T-Shirt, The Good Child uses American Apparel blanks. This means that each tee is 100% made in the USA. The blanks are from LA and the tees are printed in Dallas, Texas. The screenprint on this T-Shirt was very well done. The placement of the graphic on the front, back and inner neck was perfect and the inks used were bright, vibrant, and bold. It’s also tagless and features a screenprinted neck label instead. I was very impressed by both the packaging and the T-Shirt – both were well done.
Cons: There aren’t really any cons to speak of. The only thing that does come to mind, though, is the relatively high price tag ($29.99). However, I’d have to say that the amount of detail placed on the product and the experience and joy of opening this finely tuned T-Shirt makes this price well-deserving.
Man Up by Sir Riffkins The Third (Threadless).Pros: This shirt features a unicorn oozing rainbow bloOd and being cut up by a biker dude version of Chuck Norris with Hands made out of chainsaws. Plus, I can’t tell if that’s Chuck’s wiener or parts of his ab’s protruding out. Need I say more?
