Doctor Hazmat Closes Its Doors

It’s always a sad day whenever an indie T-Shirt designer contacts me to let me know that they are closing their doors. This was the case when Bryan Satomayor from Doctor Hazmat contacted me to let me know that his T-Shirt brand will be closing its doors. I first featured Doctor Hazmat last October and I was thoroughly impressed by his small, yet impressive, collection of T-Shirts.

When asked why he decided to shut Doctor Hazmat down, Sotomayor replied:

“It’s nothing to be upset about. It was a personal choice. I simply don’t have the money right now to run the line and progress in my personal life. A fact that I didn’t believe for a very long time.”

He also went on to say:

“I’d like to thank you, and all of my supporters, for all the help and kind words.”

I’d like to thank you, as well, Doctor Hazmat, for making truly fun T-Shirts that we all could enjoy. The youthful exuberance of your brand will be missed and we look forward to any future projects from you!

New Doctor Hazmat: Happy M.A.C.

The mad scientist’s over at Doctor Hazmat recently released their latest tee, Happy M.A.C., featuring the ever joyful Doctor Hazmat sidekick, M.A.C. You may remember, M.A.C. from Co-Tee TV a few episodes ago, he’s the long time friend, and assistant to Doctor Hazmat and incidentally the Doc’s first creation. M.A.C. stands for Multi-purpose Autonomous Cyborg, but it could easily also stand for Most Awesome Cyborg! M.A.C. is definitely a cute little creature, so be sure to keep your eyes on him!

“M.A.C. is always assisting Doctor Hazmat in the lab, and things don’t always go as planned. He’s been blown up, eaten, ran over… lets just say he’s been through a lot. But today is his lucky day. The Doc has given him a day off! YIPPEEEE!”

Doctor Hazmat tees are known for their big designs and bold color combinations, but as you can see, Hello M.A.C. is more on the subtle side. The grey design on the slate American Apparel T-Shirt is a refreshing variation to the other Doctor Hazmat designs.

Happy M.A.C. is available now for presale from Doctor Hazmat for $25.

Coty’s Thoughts:

The Official (mt) Mediatemple T-Shirt by Mediatemple. Pros: This piece of Mediatemple swag is pretty straightforward. You have Mediatemple’s trademark (mt) logo is big bold letters right across the middle of the chest. It is of course a great conversation starter because I am sure that people will be dying to know what (mt) stands for. Once you get the conversation going, you’ll then get to hype your new website and the awesome host that is hosting it! I love the fact that Mediatemple only makes these swag tees available to people who blog about their services. You can check out the blog post that I wrote about Mediatemple here, and you’ll notice that I reference the tees that other people have also received. Within a week, I received an email from Mediatemple thanking me for the post and then a few weeks later I received this T-Shirt. Even better, they use a 50/50 blend American Apparel tee, and I have to say that it’s super soft!

Why i love Mediatemple: I’ve got to mention that my experiences thus far with Mediatemple have been top notch. The support is excellent, I see that that they are active on Twitter and that none of the support is outsourced (which means that all of the support employees speak really good English). I received a couple of traffic spikes (one day I experienced 20K + unique visistors in a single day) in the month of November and the site did not go down at all. I should mention that the grid-service hosting is made to withstand high traffic load – I love this about Mediatemple. They do cost a bit more ($20 per month) but I think that they are worth it 100%. I highly recommend you check out Mediatemple.

Price: Not available for sale. I got mine by blogging about my experiences thus far with Mediatemple. If you want the official Mediatemple T-Shirt badly then I guess you’ll have to switch over to Mediatemple and then blog about them!

The Doctor Is In by Doctor Hazmat. Pros: Another great shirt from out friend, Doctor Hazmat! This shirt features the Doc himself and he looks as if he is brewing something quite mischievous. The Doctor Is In features a large five-color print on a white American Apparel T-Shirt. The print is nice and soft (for a such a large print) and the tee fits great. You’ll also notice that the T-Shirt is tagless (awesome) and instead features a screenprinted neck label. On the back of the T-Shirt you’ll find the Docotor Hazmat logo, which is a standard across the entire Doctor Hazmat line. The shirt is currently available in only sizes XL and 2XL, so if you want this one you better jump on it!

Price: $25.
