I’m not sure why, but whenever I need to spell the word “astronaut” I always initially want to spell it “astronaught.” Maybe I eat too much doughnuts? Wait, it’s donut. Shit. Anyway, this awesome tee by Katie Campbell is the perfect shirt for anyone with aspirations of exploring space or maybe just need, well, more space.
I absolutely adore this shirt from New Zealand based Cuppa T-Shirts. It’s called Moon Property and is a mix of 50′s advertising and World War II propaganda.
“Introducing our freshest design “Moon Property” In true Cuppa-T-Shirts style this shirt embraces the future and is generations ahead of itself! We all know that over-population or destruction of our Mother Earth means that one day we will have to colonize the Moon and possibly Mars.”
Moon Property is available now from Cuppa T-Shirts for 55.00 NZ ($47 US) and be sure to check out their Facebook fan page because they are holding a contest in which you can win the Moon Property T-Shirt.
What happens when you mix a water sprinkler with outer space? Well, you get Water The Summer Sky from ReThink Clothing. How many of you used to run through the sprinklers as a kid? I remembering doing that whenever we’d set up the huge blow up pool in the yard and I’d always have a blast. The only thing better? Skinny dipping under the moon in the pacific ocean (not that I have any experience doing this). Anyway, another great shirt designed by Zach Davenport, the same artist that designed Weather Wiper and Meteor Shower for ReThink Clothing.
Water The Summer Sky is printed on an American Apparel blank in both silver and mint colorways and is available for sale now for $18.99 but remember to use the code “COTY” at checkout and you can save 20% on your entire order!
This is an odd little tee from Phoenix, Arizona based Soul Fur Clothing. It looks almost as if it could be a doodle straight out some kids high school science notebook. I dig it. The shirt is named Rocket Man but I can’t really make out whether or not that is a monkey, cat or zombie in the astronaut helmet. Whatever it is, it looks damn scared to be in space.
Rocket Man comes printed on a 100% preshrunk cotton tee and is available now for the very affordable price of $10 at the Soul Fur online store.
This week I continue my summer long series on Ongoing T-Shirt Contest Sites. Every week, I will be reviewing a different tee from one of many different online contest sites. I’ll be discussing how each of these sites differ, how the submission and selection process work and what your rights are as a designer. So far I’ve covered ShirtFight and A Better Tomorrow so be sure to check those past episodes if  you haven’t yet.
You can also watch this episode on Vimeo, Viddler, YouTube, blip.tv and download and sync all episodes to your iPod or iPhone by subscribing for free to Co-Tee TV in the iTunes Store.
Through The Glass by Grant Tucker and available at Full Metal T-Shirt.Good: Excellent packaging, T-Shirts come neatly packed in a clear custom package. FMT definitely pays special attention to detail, shirts come with custom hangtags, special washing instructions and pins. Shirts are printed on Alstyle AAA blanks and are a bit longer than the typical American Apparel tee. Shirt is preshrunk so the size you order is the size you will have even after the first wash. Direct-To-Garment print allows for amazing gradient fades on this black tee Bad: Not tagless, Direct-To-Garment is not the softest print I’ve felt but is not the heaviest – it’s somewhere in between and despite it leaving a smooth texture over the shirt the possibilities available with DTG definitely outweighs this. I would definitely pick up another DTG printed tee! Price: $29
Awesome by Quixotic Clothing.Good: Printed on a dark gray American Apparel blank, comes shipped with a collection of 1 inch Quixotic pins. Extremely cheap at just $5. Very fun design, perfect tee for anyone that loves to smile and makes others laugh! Bad: It’s low in stock (only medium and X-Large available). This is one of those straightforward fun tees, nothing wrong with it. Price: $5.00.
