It all makes sense! You use gmail to send messages and it’s a messenger bag! Why didn’t anyone make this sooner. Dare I say that it’s cool? It’s not something that I’d use every single day, but it is something that I would use every so often to earn me tech geek street cred. The DIY enthusiasts will love this, especially the ones that, ummm, love to send emails? I want this.
The DIY Gmail Messenger Bag is available now from Geek Cook for $43.99.
This Pixel Heart necklace from Etsy would have been the perfect accessory for this Threadless Cardigan and this ThinkGeek T-Shirt. Very cool. But alas, it’s a one-of-a-kind item and it’s been sold. Dun, dun, dun.
Looking for the perfect Valentine’s Day T-Shirt? This 8-Bit Dynamic Life T-Shirt might be just what you’re looking for you, especially if you and your significant other loves video games. When the both of you are wearing this interactive tee and within hugging distance then all six pixelated hearts will light up. Likewise, when apart, your heart level will drop down to just two and a half hearts. Awww, how cute.
Staying healthy is the key to keeping yourself alive. Video game characters know this all too well. When your red heart gauge reaches zero… you die. For non-bitmap humans like you this is more of a challenge. But luckily after extensive study at ThinkGeek labs we’ve determined that people feel best when they are in close proximity to something that they adore. Don’t understand? Well luckily for you we’ve created this amazing 8-Bit Dynamic Life Shirt to illustrate.
Buy one of these glowing shirts for yourself, and gift one to your significant other (boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, fembot 2000…). During your normal activities two and a half pixelated hearts will light up on your shirt. Hey… you’re depressed and in need of a recharge. But get within hugging distance of your significant other wearing the matching shirt and suddenly the hearts on both of your shirts start to light up until you’re fully powered up. Go too far astray from the source of your affections and you’ll drop back down to two and a half hearts again. Got it?
It’s that time of the year again! You know, the time of the year when you go out and buy a lot of cool stuff for your friends and family for Christmas! But who said you have to “go out” and leave the comforts of your own home to get cool stuff. Stay home, sip on some hot cocoa while listening to holiday music, and do all of your holiday shopping online at Threadless! This is 2011, after all. Mall shopping is like, so passé.
Not sure what to buy from Threadless? I know, I know, they’ve got tons of amazing stuff – but what should you spend your hard earned cash on? That’s were I come in to help. The friendly peeps over at Threadless asked me to put together a list of my favorite Threadless items. And of course I said hell yeah! Now, you don’t have an excuse to not pick something up from this Chicago based purveyeur of goodness.

T-Shirts! This is Threaless’ bread and butter. If anything, pick up a Threadless tee and relish the comfy fit. I’ve picked three of my favorites for you: Stereotype Cereal by Dina Prasetyawan, Retold with Unicorns by Branko Ricov and Jonah Block, and Optimust by Phil Jones. Price: $18.
It doesn’t get all that chilly in Hawaii. Ah yes, HAWAII! But whem it does, I love to wear hoodies and Threadless has got some awesome hoodies! They’ve got the zip kind and the non-zip kind – you choose! If you feel like exposing your inner Michael Cera then pick up a Threadless hoodie! My two picks are Traditional Greeting by Paulo Bruno and The Pen is Mightier than the Sword by Clarice Crawford. Price: $29.
Over the last year, Threadless has released some real drool worthy accessories, including backpacks, totes, water bottles, and laptop/iPad cases. You’ve got something for every geek, nerd, foodie, artist, hippie and almost any other kind of person that you can think of. And although there are tons to choose from, these are my favorites.
I Be Au Sm is one of my all-time favorite Threadless designs. And now, they’v got it in Backpack form. Love it! Price: $59.
I’ve got a thing for good typography. And so I was drawn to Budi Satria Kwan’s ampersand themed Peace and Love. Price: $15.
Threadless Stuff on Thermos Stuff = double rainbow cool. Yes! When these first came out I rushed to Target to pick my favorite up. Which was my favorite you ask? Well, of course it was the iconic Funkalicious by Christopher Golebiowski. Price: $15.
Another iconic design that made it onto a Threadless accessory is the Tom Burns design, The Communist Party! It’s Christmas, let’s party! But first, if we’re going to party hard then we need to protect our precious iPhones! Why not do it in Threadless style? Price: $19.
If you’re buying an iPhone case for a fellow tehnogeek, then you may also want to consider picking up a laptop or iPad case. Why do boring black when you can do Threadless fun? These cases will have you covered! I suggest Liquid Shot and Sugar Skull. Price: $39-$54.
Finally, for those of you looking to pick up a grab bag gift or some stocking stuffers, consider these fancy little Threadless Dooodle Packs! They’re perfect for your doodle needs. Price: $9.
You already know how much I LOVE science! I mean, I wrote an entire post dedicated to 101 Science T-Shirts. In fact, it’s one of the most popular posts on this blog, having garnered over 300,000+ views. Needless to say, I was pretty excited to find these science themed T-Shirts from Crazy Like That. They actually reached out to me a while ago, but just now was able to get my eye balls on their site … and boy was I NOT disappointed.
First of all, they have amazing product shots. Seriously, I love their product shots. The models, poses and props are spot on. Indie brands should really take note of how Crazy Like That present their goods (I just wish that they also provided a close up shot of just the designs). Excellent. Secondly, their science T-Shirts are just perfect and have the right combination of humor and wit. Any science nerd will enjoy the T-Shirts at Crazy Like That.
My favorites have got to be the Pennsylvania Towns & Highways tee (Intercourse, Pennsylvania has a population of roughly 1558) and the simple, yet excellent Sugar tee. Speaking of sugar, I think my blood-glucose levels are kind of low – time to go and eat some food!
Ah, good ol’ Valentine’s Day. I’m not at all religious, but, a few of my Facebook acquaintances are. One of them posted this interesting story: “One story of St. Valentine was that he was a priest or bishop who was arrested during the reign of Claudius II for marrying people, the sacrament of marriage. Claudius liked him until Valentine tried to convert the Emperor and in turn the priest was beheaded. Perhaps the true message have been diluted throughout the centuries? From sacrifice and martyrdom to chocolate and indulgence.”
Interesting, no? We went from a beheading to chocolates and roses. How romantic. Of course, there’s nothing more romantic than zombies, and our friends at Goodie Two Sleeves know that! They recently released a slew of zombified T-Shirts for the hopeless romantic. My favorite is definitely the Zombies Love Nerds design, I just wish there was a little splatter of blood.
And if you’re in the mood for a couple more tees to celebrate this heart attack of a holiday, check out this great curated list of Valentine’s Day themed tees from our friend, Macho Slut, over at Found Item Clothing.

What Would Geordi La Forge Do? by MightTees.Pros: If you’re a Trekkie then it is highly likely that you will fall in love with two of the latest tees from MightTees. Both T-Shirts pay tribute to two of the most popular characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Jean-Luc Picard and Geordi La Forge. Each shirt features some sexy vector artwork, very 21st century! My favorite thing about MightTees shirts are the shirts themselves because they are so super soft (trust me on this) and organic. MightTees only uses water-based inks so you can expect a super soft print, not that thick ink that you’ll typically find on cheap tees. From experience, I can tell you that the print on these T-Shrits will get softer with each wash. MightTees is pure geek bliss.
The custom packaging adds a very nice touch. I almost felt bad about tearing open the package with the cute MightTees character. And how about that custom paper wrapping! Talk about a detailed eye. With every order from MighTees you not only get a great product, but a well thought out one as well.
The T-Shirt is tagless (which is always a plus for me) and instead features a screen printed neck label instead. Only 60 of these T-Shrits were printed so if you like what you see then you better head on over to MightTees and grab yourself one (or two) because they will surely sell out quickly. As a side note, the Jean-Luc Picard Make It So T-Shirt is already sold out in a few sizes (x-small and medium are sold out). And as with all MightTees designs, once they sell out they are never again printed or re-released. Tip: Go buy this tee now.
Suggestions: My only suggestion would be that 1. MightTees needs to make more tees more often, and 2. You need to go and pick yourself up some MightTees goodness right now. Can you tell that I am a fan of MightTees?!
Children of the QWERTY by Tan Nuyen for Threadless.Pros: Children of the QWERTY was one of the tees that I randomly received from the Threadless “Trick or Tees”promotion, which was basically a $5 mystery T-Shirt. I’m not blown away by this particular design, yes it’s witty, but nothing all too exciting (for me, at least). What did get me excited was the other two “trick or tee” T-Shirts that I received. One was a special edition Threadless Select tee that was only made in available in 2007 during the Threadless Chicago retail store opening. You had to be there in 2007 in order to get one of those bad boys and they didn’t even make them available for sale online. I got one for $5 three years later. Stoked!
Price: $5 (sold out but you could try and score one via their $5 Mystery Tees promotion).
What kind of nerd are you? According to this new Threadless tee by Riccardo Bucchioni, there are 9 major nerd types:
Comic Book Nerd
Let’s see, if I had to classify myself into a specific class of nerd then I would have to say that I am most likely a Science Nerd. Though, I am pretty sure that I could hold my own against Movie Nerds and Computer Nerds (especially those that subclassify themselves as Apple Nerds). What kind of nerd are you?
By the way, this T-Shirt reminds me a bit of this little infographic that I posted more than 2 years ago. Geeks rule the world!
Spun Dry is another goofy design from one of my favorite T-Shirt designers, Glenn Jones. But, besides the actual T-Shirt, what do you think of those custom Spidey whitey tighties! What geek wouldn’t want to have Spider-Man’s logo covering his crotch. OK, maybe that would be just a small proportion of geeks – but still.
If you either 1. love Spider-Man, or 2. secretly want a pair of Spidey branded whitey tighties, then head on over to Glennz Tees to pick up Spun Dry for $19.95.
I don’t watch the Big Bang Theory religiously (although I should), but I have seen my fair share of episodes. If you’re a fan of the show and you love tees then you’ll most likely have noticed Sheldon’s obsession with geeky, science-y, and comic book type T-Shirts. He must have large closet space to hold his wares.
One enterprising Big Bang Theory fan has assembled a very unique T-Shirt site. The site SheldonShirts.com is a chronicle of each of the nerdy shirts that Sheldon has worn on the Big Bang Theory. They have a fairly sizeable collection and they link to the shirts if they are still available for sale. Pretty neat idea in a I wish I had thought of that sort of way!
“You’ve reached T-shirt Nerdvana! Here at SheldonShirts.com, we’ve collected all the best t-shirts worn by Sheldon and Leonard on The Big Bang Theory, plus Howard’s belt buckles, some shirts we think Sheldon and Leonard should wear, cool stuff seen on the show (Periodic Table shower curtain, anyone?), some of our favorite Sheldon quotes and lots more. Find out where to buy your favorite tee shirts!”
