A few Co-Tee TV episodes ago, I reviewed Vaughn de Heart, a unique brand started by self-proclaimed Vaughntrepreneur, RoyLyn Le’Vaughan Palmer-Coleman. Well, Vaughn de Heart is back with a collection of new and limited items. Le Magnifigue was released on Black Friday and fittingly features 7 brand new Vaughn de Heart products, all of which are black. What makes this collection truly special is the limited run number of each of the products in the Le Magnifigue Collection. Each item is limited to seven pieces. Why 7?
“It actually start with the zip hoodie. I put Le Magnifique on the back and I thought I was done. Then while I was sitting at work one day crunching numbers (I work during the day as an analyst) the idea of the magnificent 7 came to me. I thought, “I’ll make 7 hoodies!” But that didn’t seem like enough. When I got home I got to my computer and started designing more and the idea of 7 items and making only 7 of each happened. Then the idea of the numbered cards to give it a special feeling. Then the idea of the gold tags, and the special drawstring bags as packaging. I actually started making this collection in August (That’s why there is a tank in the collection), that’s how long it took all of the details to come together, and now that it is made and my screen printer thoroughly hates me for putting him through this ordeal, the collection is finished.” – RoyLyn Le’Vaughan Palmer-Coleman
I took a quick peak at the Vaughn de Heart shop and noticed that a few of the items from Le Magnique are already sold out or only available in 1 or 2 specific sizes. So if you see something that you like, I highly recommended that you scoop it up! Items from this collection are priced from $24.95 to $54.95 and are available now from the Vaughn de Heart online shop.
Ever take a close look at the hang tag of a recently purchased T-Shirt? Chances are you’ll find some washing instructions and a bunch of icons associated with how you should properly care for your brand new tee. For me, the process is simple. Wear, wash, repeat. Those would be the three icons that I would put on the hang tag of my T-Shirt.
Simplified Clothing is far from just another T-Shirt brand. In fact, they are so different that their tees feature the handling, wash and care icons on the front of the T-Shirt instead of just on the hang tag. OK, this might not be the case for every tee from Simplified Clothing. In fact, it’s only the case for one of their tees, aptly named Take Care. But I have to say that it’s a pretty damn awesome T-Shirt. It’s actually my favorite from the Simplified Clothing line, with the Obama smoking a fag* tee coming in at a close second. And since we’re on the topic of taking care of things, President Obama, you’re not doing yourself or your lungs any favors with your nicotine addiction. Get over it!
Take Care and Obama are both available now from Simplified Clothing for $21.99 each, but you can save 15% off your entire purchase by using the coupon code “Cotyshirts” at checkout!
*No, i’m not trying to be derogatory in any way. A good friend of mine from England taught me that it is rather common for an Englishman to call a cigarette a fag. It made me chuckle just a little bit.
Wotto fans rejoice! The veteran T-Shirt designer is back with his latest design from Tilteed. His latest shirt is called The Inner Working of a Maniac, and, if you take a look at the design you’ll exactly why it’s called that. First of all, if I had that many jelly bean like characters inside of me , tossing coins and catching buttterflies, I’d surely be a little manic myself.
I’ll start off by saying that these designs from Vaughn de Heart are true T-Shirt finds. I love the simple, yet effective typography of the three designs featured below. The brand was started by Walla Walla University graduate, RoyLyn Le’Vaughan Palmer-Coleman, and is the product of coincidence and possibly fate. You can read more about his story at the Vaughn de Heart blog.
HEART features bold white type on a Royal Blue T-Shirt. If you’ve got heart, this is the T-Shirt to get. The “Heart” in Vaughn de Heart is in reference to the fact that Palmer-Coleman put 100% of his own heart into starting this brand. Les gens courageux is French for “The Fearless Ones.” This shirt reflects the fearlessness that Palmer-Coleman had to have in order to start his own clothing band. He had a lot of fear going into this, but I think he has done an excellent job so far.
The initial collection at Vaughn de Heart features 5 distinct T-Shirts and 1 signature drawstring bag. The T-Shirts are priced from $22 to $24 and feature both crew neck and v-neck tees. Hopefully a hands on review of one of these signature tees will be coming soon!
UPDATE: Use the coupon code “courage” at checkout for an additional 25% off your entire order!
Designer Rob Dobi just released Series 10 of his Fullbleed line and I have to admit that it doesn’t disappoint. Dobi has a specific style, he does not rely on other artist for his brand, instead he relies on his own imagination and design skills to bring his concepts to life on T-Shirts. Fullbleed, which originally started as a side project of Dobi’s, has now become his full-time job. It’s easy to see why.
Series 10 consists of 10 new tees, a new hoodie and three silk-screened prints. It looks like nearly half of the T-Shirt line consists of prints on American Apparel Tri-Blend shirts. I’m a huge Tri-Blend fan so this is a welcome inclusion. The shirts are priced from $18-$20, with the hoodie priced at $40, and the prints $18.
Rob Dobi also had one of his design selected for print at the popular T-Shirt contest site, Design By Humans. Gateway is available now from Design By Humans for $19.
Every day I come up with a new witty Threadless TypeTees Slogan in hopes of earning a Threadless Alumni Club Medal of Honor. At the end of every week I post a round up of that weeks slogans here on my blog. What can you do to help the cause? Vote! Just click on a slogan (preferably all of them) and then vote by click “I’d Wear It!” – it’s that simple! If you want to see and vote for all of my slogans then just click here or on that photo of me with the Rockband guitar. Vote for me and I will bake you your own burrito if ever we meet in real life.
OK, you need to be both a web geek and a Threadless geek to get this one. Before Twitter made 140 characters an iconic cultural limitation, OMG Clothing (later to become TypeTees) made 65 characters the max you had to get your thought across. In my opinion, 65 is so much harder to do than 140.
Let me warn you beforehand that Episode 32 of Co-Tee TV is one fun episode! It ended up being very long as well, maybe because I can talk hours at a time about Apple products. And because of that I was very excited to review Slide To Unlock from Milk & Eggs Co. because the shirt is based on a device I could probably not live without – my iPhone! Hope you enjoy this episode, just one more day (and video) left until this week over!
You can also watch this episode on Vimeo, Viddler, YouTube, blip.tv and download and sync all episodes to your iPod or iPhone by subscribing for free to Co-Tee TV in the iTunes Store.
Slide To Unlock by Milk & Eggs Co..Pros: I absolutely adore this shirt and think the concept is brilliant. The shirt itself is printed on an American Apparel blank which is always a plus in terms of quality. I think any iPhone user would enjoy this shirt, it would make for a perfect gift! Custom hangtags add a professional touch and the added goodies in the package like the Milk & Eggs buttons and stickers are an awesome bonus. Cons: I have no complaints when it comes to this shirt. Price: $20.
I definitely have to pick up this tee for my sister because she absolutely insists on collecting as many “I Heart X” tees as cities I can visit. Her collection is growing at a rapid pace so much so that maybe a quarter of her closet is filled with this tourist staple. The Go Heart Your Own City tee was made for her! It’s printed on a 100% cotton tee and is an exclusive re-release by Reason Clothing. These are extremely limited and are numbered 1 to 48. The cost? Definitely not the standard tourist street price. A I Heart NY tee will set you back 5 bucks, this limited print will cost you $36.Â
