I’ve seen a lot of indie T-Shirt brands dabbling in Kickstarter campaigns to help draw in funds to build their brand. Some are very successful, while other receive a lukewarm response. I hope that LazerShirts is able to reach their KickStarter goal because they’ve got something cool going.
LazerShirts feature somer really neat glow-in-the-dark designs, but that’s not all. Point the LazerShirts “ultraviolet lazer” at the T-Shirt and you can start etching your own designs on top of the existing ones. Pretty rad. I mean, lasers and T-Shirts. Can you get any more awesome than that?
“LazerShirts are fun unique t-shirts that allow you to design your own creation with our special glow-in-the-dark formula. You can use our ultraviolet Lazer to “charge” glow material on the shirt. Simply touch the UV light to the shirt to free-hand draw or write whatever you want!”
The Kickstarter campaign is running for the next 20 days. The goal is to reach $7000 and right now they are at $1,135. Go ahead and check out their KickStarter page if you’re interested in contributing. You get some nice extra stuff if you do decided to contribute to the LazerShirts fun. Here’s what you get:
In the not so distant future, we will all use T-Shirts featuring laser cut designs. Screen printed apparel will be a thing of the past. Feasible? Probably not. Possible? Absolutely. In fact, a new brand called PERF Last Cut Apparel is doing exact that right now in 2011. You don’t even need to wait for the no so distant future.
“PERF creates unique laser cut patterned t-shirts for men and women. Eager to bring a distinctive texture and pattern to the clothes I wear, I created PERF after discovering the potential of using laser cutting technology to transform the everyday t-shirt into something extraordinary by cutting out unique patterns in them! I prefer to wear them with a colored t-shirt underneath, but I’ll leave that up to you. Or if you’d like, you can purchase an underlayer shirt of your specified color, separately. Each T-shirt is laser cut individually after you order it based on your preference for pattern, color and size. Please be patient as it may take up to 2 weeks to complete your order.”
“…Just before Christmas I was contacted by Lucasfilm Ltd. They contacted me, and said they where fans of my work, and would I like to design a couple of tees. And of course, without a moments hesitation, I said yes! I think I would have said Yes! If they had asked me to sell my soul!”
I might have sold my soul as well if given the opportunity!
According to Ward, his designs will be slowly released through the rest of the year and possibly beyond. To start, they’ve just made available Bow TIE Tuxedo and the Han Solo inspired Pyew Pyew designs. Both T-Shirts are available now for purchase for $21.99.
Congratulations Reece! I can’t wait to see the rest of your designs as they roll out!
Now here’s a pretty cool shirt from our the guys at Busted Tees. It’s called Laser Pointer and it kind of reminds me of something that I’d see from the like of Glennz Tees. It’s a simple illustration with lots of wit. The shirt features a hound that has Superman-like laser eyes, because really, that’s what every dog needs – Superman-like laser eyes! I bet he can hunt pretty good with those eyes, don’t you?
