Our friend Ray Masaki, lead designer of Lowdtown Friends & Freaks has just dropped his latest line of products from his lifestyle brand. The winter 2010 release from Lowdtown Friends & Freaks feature two new crewnecks in two different colorways, a new T-Shirt and a stunning black leather wallet.
One of the crewnecks features a brand new Lowdtown character, the naked Cleanbean, while the other crew neck features the familiar Insatiable Mouth. Both crewnecks are priced at $30 and can be had in either charcoal or heather gray colors. The lone tee in the Winter 2010 release features Unikid, the little badass of the Lowdtown crew. This shirt was done as a collaboration with illustrator, Attila, of Peachbeach and is available now for $20. If you do decide to buy something (which I thing you should) then be sure to use the coupon code “coty” at checkout for an additional 10% off your entire order!
Incidentally, this is also the one-year anniversary of Lowdtown Friends & Freaks! Congratulations, Ray! And I should also note that Ray designed the upcoming official T-Shirt from Andy of Hide Your Arms, who ,celebrated the 4th anniversary of his site yesterday. That tee should be released any day now so be sure to be on the lookout for that!
It looks like fellow T-Shirt blogger Andy Bowness from Hide Your Arms has decided to jump into the business that he so passionately blogs about about – T-Shirts! Andy posted a preview of the upcoming Hide Your Arms logo tee on his Facebook and on the HYA blog. The logo was designed by Ray Masaki, artist and founder of Lowdtown Friends & Freaks, and as you can see, the logo design features partially hidden arms!Â
“It was inevitable that after spending almost 4 years writing about t-shirts, hoodies and anything else that I thought was cool and you guys would be interested, that I would put my money where my mouth is and actually try and release a shirt.”
Expect to see the HYA logo tee available for sale around January 21, which is the 4 year anniversary of the blog. No word yet on pricing.Â
I covered Lowdtown Friends & Freaks recently in Co-Tee TV Episode  17, BUT, I just had to mention these Mooks that were designed by Lowdtown Friends & Freaks founder, Ray Masaki. Ray designed every aspect of these Mooks from the mold to the final packaging. Very neat! He also posted a couple of blogs showing the step by step process involved in making these cute Lowdtown characters (see blog posts here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3).Â
The Mooks are available for purchase in limited quantities. Only 6 of each of the white and black Mooks were made. They are available now for $25 but you can save 10% by using the coupon code “coty” at checkout.Â
If you enjoyed these Mooks then you might like this tee from Lowdtwon Friends & Freaks. It’s the Lowdtown logo tee and it features the Mouthcan (the same one that graces the Mook packaging). It’s a one color designed printed on an American Apparel tee and is available now for $21.99. And if you watched Episode 17 then you already know the Ray pumps out quality tees that are tagless and have embroidered seam tags – awesome! And remember, save 10% by using the coupon code “coty”.Â
In this episode I wear the Signature Silvareware Tee from Pyknic Clothing and review Public Radio from LOWDTOWN Friends & Freaks, a New Jersey based brand started by student Ray Masaki out of a desire to create a brand with focus, a consistent theme and amazingly creative designs. Use the coupon code “COTY” on your next LOWDTOWN Friends & Freaks purchase and save 10%. As always, enjoy with tea and a comfy tee!
Public Radio by Ray Masaki of LOWDTOWN Friends & Freaks and Nathaniel Milburn.Good: Love this design, great collaboration between Ray and Nathaniel, colors work wonderfully together and is a great tee to wear out to the park on a sunny day or one that you could just as easily wear fashionably around town. It’s tagless for itch free comfort and has a screenprinted label, The custom custom hangtag is impressive and the embroidered seam tag adds an extra touch of professionalism normally seen only on higher priced tees. Bad: Not much, this tee should put a smile on your face – if you’re having a bad day throw this shirt on and you’ll begin to feel positive vibes! Price: $21.99 but you can save 10% if you use the coupon code “COTY” at checkout.
Signature Silverware Tee by Pyknic Clothing. Great shirt, I’m not sure what kind of blank Pyknic Clothing uses but I really like the feel of this shirt, it’s very soft, just like the massive print. Really dig the design, love the subtle, classic and mature look of this Pyknic tee. Paired with nice vintage jeans, white dunks, along with a jacket (or blazer) over tis tee and you’re good to go for a night out in the town. Price: $24.98.
