I’m Getting Too Old For…

Growing up in the 80’s, my mom loved the Lethal Weapon series of movies, though I think she secretly watched it just to see Mel Gibson. Nonetheless, I had my share of Lethal Weapon re-runs on HBO and TNT and playbacks on VHS. More recently, she purchased the entire Lethal Weapon collection on DVD. My mom is progressive so that means she’ll probably be picking up the series once more on Blu-ray in the next 2-3 years. Did I mention that she already owns the movies in both VHS and DVD formats?

Anyhow, check out this shirt from Crispy Tees, a joint venture from the guys collectively known in the T-Shirt and design communities as The Black Axe. The shirt features Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) with a twist to his usual catchline. Too Old For This Shirt is printed on an American Apparel blank and is available now from Crispy Tees for $18.00.

Product Placement by Josh Eacret

So I just got through watching the newest episode of The Totally Rad Show (I’m a huge fan) and I couldn’t help but notice the shirt that Dan Trachtenberg had on. A little Google voodoo-ery and I was able to track down the shirt that sparked my interest. It’s called Product Placement and it was designed by Josh Eacret for Dutch Southern. This turned out to be a pretty cool find since Dutch Southern produces excellent T-Shirts that parodies some of my favorite movies.

When I first saw the shirt, I thought it was a rip off of the popular Spoilt shirt from Threadless and designed by Olly Moss. But on closer inspection, I couldn’t figure out any of the movies. It turns out, the individual illustrations are fictional logos/brands from movies, and hence the name, Product Placement. Brilliant! I don’t want to spoil the shirt for those of you that want to try and figure out what logos came from what movies so I won’t mention any of the movies featured on the shirt. Instead, if you’d like to know the entire run down of the products and the movie that they are taken from then definitely check out the product page at Dutch Southern. And while you’re there, you can pick up Product Placement for $19.

Johnny Cupcakes Presents: THE GOONIES!

HEY YOU GUYYYYYSSSSSSSS!!

Growing up, Goonies was one of my absolute favorite movies, alongside other 80’s classics like The Karate Kid and Princess Bride. I have to say that Mr. Cupcakes and myself have very similar tastes in movies. Every single one of these screenings he has done (TMNT, Back To The Future, Karate Kid) have been of movies I grew up watching.

For you lucky bastards in the Boston area, you can check out The Johnny Cupcakes screening of The Goonies on Saturday July 18th at 11:55pm (midnight) at The Coolidge Corner Theatre on 290 Harvard Street – Brookline, MA. If I could be there, trust me, I’d be there! The limited edition Goonies inspired Johnny Cupcakes tee will be on sale at the screening. No word yet on when you’ll be able to pick up the shirt online!

Salvation Denied by SplitReason

I’ve always been a fan of the Terminator movie and so when I saw this tee from Salvation Denied from SplitReason.com I got excited. The name of the shirt itself is pretty epic and a play on the most recent Terminator flick, Terminator Salvation. And by the way, Salvation was a gazillion times better than Rise of the Machines. I’m just sayin’. The lightening bolts on the skull add a nice touch to the exoskeleton! I wonder if my skull has an lightening bolts inscribed? Salvation Denied is available now from SplitReason.com for $18.95.

Race Advantage by Glennz Tees

The newest tee from one of my favorite indie tee designers was released with perfect timing. Man on a racing bicycle and decked out in a yellow suit. I wonder who that guy is? It’s obviously Lance Armstrong, who, incidentally is back and racing (as I type) in the Tour de France. He’s currently in third place, which is an astonishing feat in itself since he’s been away from the sport for more than 3 years! Maybe a finger pointing extraterristial is what needs to give him that extra boost! Race Advantage is available now from Glennz Tees and costs just $19.95.

It’s been just about a year since I last purchased a tee from Shirt.Woot, but something told me that I just needed to pick this tee up. Robocop fans rejoice and pick up Robocopper from Shirt.Woot for just 10 bucks (24 hours only) and free shipping! Now, if only I could here that Robocopper speak with an English accent. New Tees From Kosher Ham

Kosher Ham has been on a roll the last few weeks releasing oodles of news tees, all kosher of course (we wouldn’t want them any other way). Check out four of my favorites from the recent releases. All shirts, except for Am I Missing A Tooth ($15.99) is $19.99 they’re all printed on American Apparel blanks. And remember, Kosher Ham always has the buy 3 get a 4th tee promotion – so pick up any 3 Kosher Ham tees and receive a free Kosher Ham logo tee!

Am I Missing A Tooth is my favorite from the bunch! It’s from the newest comedic classic, The Hangover. If you haven’t seen that flick, do yourself a favor and check it out! You’ll laugh. You’ll laugh hard. And then you’ll hurt from all the laughter.

Oh you know you used to watch Saved By The Bell. Don’t try to hide it! I admit I used to watch Saved By The Bell religiously! I was a preteen, afterall, at the peak of the shows popularity. And I think I’m a better man for it! Zack Morris for president.

Zach Morris Is A Man Whore

Let’s just say that Michelle Obama didn’t really have any big shoes to fill. Our first lady has style, class and spunk. Be envious!

And I just had to include this clip of “Zack Morris” on the Jimmy Fallon Show. It’s really him. I’m waiting anxiously for the Saved By The Bell reunion on Fallon! Does Mark-Paul Gosselaar not age?

Bruno Inspired GayBy Tee

NerdyShirts really knows how to capitalize on pop culture! Bruno has been out just a few days in theaters and already they’ve got a tee out! I knew someone would come out with this shirt when I saw the movie last Friday but I didn’t know that it would be this quick!

The shirt, titled GayBy, is from one of the funniest scenes in the film. Bruno is a guest on The Richard Bey Show, a talk show whose whose audience is 100% black. He then proceeds to bring out his little one dressed up in a miniature version of this shirt. Sacha Baron Cohen is definitely going to hell. Bloody, bloody comedic hell!

You can pick up GayBy from NerdyShirts for $14.95 today.

Here’s a description of the scene from Film School Rejects:

Next up is Brüno’s guest appearance on The Richard Bey Show (think low-rent Jerry Springer) as a single parent in search of a mate. The crowd of mostly black audience members accepts his entrance with applause, but he starts to lose them almost immediately with the revelation that he’s looking for a black man to be his partner. Things go downhill from there as his adopted African baby is brought out wearing a half-shirt with the word “Gayby” on it. And then photos appear on screens in front of the audience including pictures of the child crucified like Christ and hanging out in a hot tub with four naked, adult men…
