I’ve been a fan of the Oven Fresh Dreams Collaborate & Dream series for a long time now. Recently, Mr. EasyBake (the man behind the brand), unveiled the latest addition to this collection. The T-Shirt is a collaboration between OFD and Yema Yema. If you haven’t heard of Yema Yema then you definitely need to get out from under that rock and check out her stuff. Yema Yema specializes in crazy monster-ish creature-based designs that are super fun. In the OFD calloborate tee she uses this strength to turn Mr. EasyBakes passion of cooking into a work of art. Think cookies gone insane!
The artistic mind who brought this shirt to life is none other than the talented Yema. She is a mother and a full-time graphic designer/illustrator. I had the pleasure of meeting her through my network of t-shirt buddies and I am forever grateful. Yema’s style is fun and youthful, which is why we get along so well. Ever since I started baking under Oven Fresh Dreams, I have felt very “alive” and working with Yema took that feeling a notch further. The art of baking is similar to designing because it allows you to make your dreams into a delicious looking reality!
The shirt isn’t available for sale just yet, but when it does you can be sure that I’ll let you know about it. If the other tees in the OFD store are any indication, you can expect to spend about $24.99 for the tee.
By the way, I highly suggest that you check out the official Oven Fresh Dreams Tumblr. It will make you drool.
As a side note, I thought this was pretty cool. It’s printed useable parchment paper featuring step-by-step instructions on how to make a pie crust. It was created by Ashley Ross of the Pastry Training Center (Vancouver, B.C.) to promote classes. Nifty!

Johnny Cupcakes recently made a post on Emptees regarding some very very very similar looking items being released by Pastry, a brand owned by Vanessa and Vangela Simmons. Some of you might recognize the Simmons girls if you watch Run’s House on MTV – they are the daughters of Rap legend Reverend Run of Run DMC.Â
Johnny posted the following message:
“Last Spring I was alerted by a customer who happened to work at a popular mall sportswear store. This customer of mine caught a glimpse of his manager’s catalog which had various items that were being released in the near future at all of their mall locations. One of the items in this companies catalog was a “Make Pastry Not War” t-shirt. Not only was it a very similar slogan, but it had the same EXACT placement, font, EVEN A CUPCAKE in the center of the t-shirt. This was no coincidence. Weeks later my inbox was flooded with furious Johnny Cupcakes customers who saw this same catalog with the ‘Pastry’ design in it. I could of made a big deal about it online, making everyone else aware of it. Instead, I decided not to be a cry baby and post it all over the internet, so I sought out a different route. I decided to contact my trademark attorney, who then contacted the owners of Pastry / Pastry Kicks. We got in touch with the President of a certain mall chain-store who ended up declining the order of all ‘Make Pastry Not War’ t-shirts.”
“Recently I’ve received several e-mails from confused and upset customers of mine. Now, 2 other designs have appeared on their website. You be the judge…”
Johnny caught them on this once before last year, with the Make Cupcakes Not War tee. It looks like the girls didn’t learn from their previous mistake. The new Pastry tees are too similar – way too similar. It is so shameful that they are doing such blatant rip offs of an already established brand. Shame. On. YOU!
Here is the information that you need if you want to voice your concern to Pastry. Let them know this is wrong and lame in every way.Â
