Flying Out To Seattle – Plaid Nation!

I’m just about ready to leave my house to catch my flight to Seattle! I couldn’t resist doing a quick video of the flyaway shirt I chose to wear. It’s from the guys over at the Plaid Design Agency. They sent me over this tee after I blogged about their Plaid Nation 2009 cross country tour. I love it!

So, as a fair warning, I’ll be gone till next Wednesday but don’t worry I will still be doing posts on the blog. I have some already prepared but I will most likely be doing video blogs of my travels. Hopefully I’ll also be able to meet up with the guys behind Tilteed and Found Item Clothing while I am in Portland! So keep an eye out for those!

Co-Tee TV Episode 26: Vince Vulcan, Tilteed and Bombs!

In this episode I wear Vince Vulcan by Cloxboy and review Bombs Away! by Dale Edwin Murray and available at Tilteed as part of my summer long series on ongoing T-Shirt contest sites. By the way, there’s a hidden free shirt somewhere in either this post or in the video. Find it and you will score a free shirt. You’ll know it when you see it – that’s the only clue I’m giving!

This week I continue my summer long series on Ongoing T-Shirt Contest Sites. Every week, I will be reviewing a different tee from one of many different online contest sites. Coty’s Thoughts:

Bombs Away! by Dale Edwin Murray and available at Tilteed. Pros: Excellent four color print, vibrant colors, fun design, printed on an American Apparel blank so you know I love the it and feel. Shirts come with custom hangtags but mine was shipped before the tags arrived. Perfect shirt for the kid at heart or for those who like to drop bombs! Cons: Not tagless, plain mailer. Price: $18

Vince Vulcan by Cloxboy. Pros: If you swear by the Sham Wow then this is the shirt for you! Perfect mashup of two epic characters, the Vulcan Spock and Vince Shlomi. This shirt comes from the guys that brought us the iSteamPhone, Exploded360, and Exploded128. Soft print on an American Apparel blank, Cons: Not tagless. I kind of wish that the print was a tad larger. Price: $20.

Coty’s Thoughts:

Mona Lisa SLIME by Zipperking and available at Design By Humans. Pros: I absolutely love the design on this shirt, that  slug pops like crazy! Plus, I am a sucker for the Mona Lisa! The Design By Humans shirt is soft, super soft! And I love the fit, it’s a comfortable loose and it’s not too short like the Threadless branded shirts. It’s tagless for itch free comfort, which is always a plus! Beautiful packaging, one of the best packages I’ve seen so far! Cons: The print itself is not the softest I’ve felt but I’m sure it’ll get softer after the initial wash. Other than that I absolutely adore this shirt. I’ll definitely be ordering from Design By Humans again.  Price: $24

Mona Lisa Slime by Design By Humans

Meek Cloud by Matt Joyce for Applied Clothing and available at Brand Neusense. Pros: The product itself is very well put together. The shirt features customs cut and sew elements with tags on the lower right seam and left arm sleeve seam. It’s not tagless but it does have a custom neck tag. The shirt is a bit thicker compared to American Apparel or Alstyle blanks. The shirt is produced from fair trade cotton. Brand Neusense offers international shipping and free shipping for all orders placed in the UK. Cons: The neck hole is a bit smaller than what I am used to. It is a bit baggier and looser than most shirts I review.  Price: £25.00.

Coty Loves Threadless #22 – I’m Bewitched!

Last weeks crop of Threadless tees was pretty spectacular. Freakanaut was an amazing shirt. This weeks releases were a little “meh” for me. But hey, this is Coty Loves Threadless and I still love Threadless! Sam Schuna’s Witching Hour had the pimp spot this week on the Threadless site and for good reason! In fact, it deserves to be pimped so much that it’s my Threadless Pick of the Week! And how about the rest, you’ll have to watch! If you haven’t yet, be sure to check out and vote for my TypeTees slogan submissions – I’m submitting one every day until I get printed! Every vote counts so vote for a slogan and help me get printed.

Coty’s Thoughts:

Lend You A Hand by Joe Choe and available at tFuse. Good: The hand print is massively impressive! The shirt itself is super soft. Tagless for itchfree comfort, love that! Awesome design. The print is pretty soft but not super soft. Bad: Great shirt, my only complaint is: the packaging (which has nothing to do with the product because I think the shirt itself is flawless)! For such an awesome shirt, I just wish they paid a little more attention to the packaging details. Price: $19

Lend A Hand by Joe Choe for tFuse

Turtle Power by Cryface and available at Integral Apparel. Good: Fun design, especially for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans! Love the bright yellow of this Alstyle tee. Custom hangtags with washing instructions attached. Bad: Not tagless, wish that the print was a bit larger. Price: $19.80.

Teextile: Whisper

Admittedly, I went back and forth with my selections this week, but ultimately, I went with Whisper by SpaceMonkeyDR as my Teextile Favorite. I originally had gone with Star Kiss but then questioned that selection when I asked myself if I would actually wear that tee.

You can purchase Whisper (and the rest of the tees) all this week, but remember, each of these tees cost just $12 of their designated sale day, after that the price goes up to $15. After this week, all of the tees below will be gone forever.

Here are this weeks Teextile rankings, in order from my 1 to 5, with 1 being my Teextile Favorite for that particular week. Feel free to debate your favorites!

Co-Tee TV Episode 22: Quixotic Clothing, Full Metal T-Shirt and Light Bulbs

In this episode I wear and review Awesome from Quixotic Clothing and review a tee called Through The Glass that was designed by Grant Tucker for Full Metal T-Shirt. Earn $200 for each winning design and $5 in residuals for each shirt sold at Full Metal T-Shirt.

This week I continue my summer long series on Ongoing T-Shirt Contest Sites. Every week, I will be reviewing a different tee from one of many different online contest sites. I’ll be discussing how each of these sites differ, how the submission and selection process work and what your rights are as a designer. So far I’ve covered ShirtFight and A Better Tomorrow so be sure to check those past episodes if  you haven’t yet.

You can also watch this episode on Vimeo, Viddler, YouTube, blip.tv and download and sync all episodes to your iPod or iPhone by subscribing for free to Co-Tee TV in the iTunes Store.

Coty’s Thoughts:

Through The Glass by Grant Tucker and available at Full Metal T-Shirt. Good: Excellent packaging, T-Shirts come neatly packed in a clear custom package. FMT definitely pays special attention to detail, shirts come with custom hangtags, special washing instructions and pins. Shirts are printed on Alstyle AAA blanks and are a bit longer than the typical American Apparel tee. Shirt is preshrunk so the size you order is the size you will have even after the first wash. Direct-To-Garment print allows for amazing gradient fades on this black tee Bad: Not tagless, Direct-To-Garment is not the softest print I’ve felt but is not the heaviest – it’s somewhere in between and despite it leaving a smooth texture over the shirt the possibilities available with DTG definitely outweighs this. I would definitely pick up another DTG printed tee! Price: $29

Through The Glass by Grant Tucker for Full Metal T-Shirt

Awesome by Quixotic Clothing. Good: Printed on a dark gray American Apparel blank, comes shipped with a collection of 1 inch Quixotic pins. Extremely cheap at just $5. Very fun design, perfect tee for anyone that loves to smile and makes others laugh! Bad: It’s low in stock (only medium and X-Large available). This is one of those straightforward fun tees, nothing wrong with it. Price: $5.00.
