In this episode I wear Wingtips by Manos Lakoutsis and review a tee from Ten Bills called Bird Is My Best Friend that was designed by Doug Cowan. Ten Bills was founded on the idea that cool, fresh looking shirts should be made available for just 10 bucks. Ten Bills made that happen and now you can get fresh tees all year round for a stunningly affordable 10 bills.Â
Bird Is My Best Friend by Doug Cowan. Good: Great illustration from Doug Cowan, the shirt fits great, a little longer than American Apparel tees but that shouldn’t be a problem after the first wash. The tee is tagless for itch free comfort and features a screen printed neck label instead. The best part of the tee is it’s price – it’s cheap! This is a great shirt for anyone that’s into philosophy, animals or both! Bad: Not much, I was a bit skeptical about quality, at first, but the shirt is comparable to what other sites are selling at double the price. I’ll sure be picking up tees from Ten Bills in the future! Price: $10.00.
Wingtips by Manos Lakoutsis for Threadless. This here is a classic Threadless tee. I’m not wearing a first edition, unfortunately, but still – great shirt! This one is actually printed on an American Apparel tee rather than the Threadless branded tee (I prefer the AA fit over the Threadless fit). Perfect shirt for any shoe snob. Price: $9.00 (available in very limited quantities and sizes).

This ShutterCal/Ten Bills tee is a Limited Edition shirt that is in support of the expansion of ShutterCal.com, an online web project where members are invited upload one image a day incorporating real life experiences and photo journalism to create their own personal calendars. The shirt features a design that was created by Jason McKoy from ShadowPlastic that embodies the essence of ShutterCal.com and also celebrates how cameras and photography have influenced our modern society.Â
The tee is available now from Ten Bills, for, unfortunately not 10 bills – it costs 20 bucks. Remember, though, that it’s a limited edition tee that will not be reprinted and proceeds go towards developing ShutterCal.com.Â
This is one of those hush-hush sales that you’ll only know about if you’re receiving the Ten Bills newsletter. And it’s hush-hush for good reason. There was basically a printing error in a tee called Ashes to Ashes from Ten Bills and instead of selling the faulty tees at full price, they decided to basically give them away for the dirt cheap price of 4 for $20 bucks. I kinda wish that they would have offered the option to buy just one of these tees, because I am not sure what I would do with four of them! In any case, if you’re a bargain hunter than this might be something you might be interested in.
“This week we are presenting a special item that is sort of a secret (that’s why it’s not on the main page). We had a batch of designs that were misprinted with the design, “Ashes to Ashes”. The print did not come out complete and some of the details in the edges were lost. We have decided to sell them in what we call “4/$20 Packs” or in other words, four t-shirts for $20. Quantities are limited and we expect them to sell out quick. They are great tees but the design was not printed well enough to do the design justice so we couldn’t sell them. Since these are mistakes, you can understand why it’s not on the main page.”
