I love the videos that Threadless has been putting out. Here’s the latest, featuring designer Philip Tseng talking about his latest design, A Piece of Cake. Craig Shimala gets a nice piece of cake in the end!
In this episode I wear You Crazy Banana! by Word! Apparel and review two tees that I received from Endgame Clothing, a brand that specializes in designing tees made for and designed by people that love the game of chess. As always, enjoy with tea and a comfy tee!
3Kings & Trophy designed by Endgame Clothing. Good: These tees fit perfectly on me, tagless print for extra comfort, fabric is incredibly soft and so is the ink, awesome designs that can be easily worn by both chess players and non chess players. Bad: I preferred 3Kings over Trophy, no real complaints about these two tees. Price: $24.99.
You Crazy Banana! by Word! Apparel. This week’s starter shirt can be purchased for a limited time from Word! Apparel. Get this tee now before it’s gone forever, plus, who doesn’t like bananas – especially crazy ones. Price: $16.99.
If you want to sent me a product to review, please feel free to do so. You can find my information in the contact menu above. Thanks!
This is a first over at TeeFury – it’s a $5 T-Shirt sale! Couple of things to note, it’s a grab bag, so you don’t get to choose what you’ll be receiving. You simply choose the size and they’ll ship over a tee. It’s a grab bag! Wanna see the designs available then check below the video. Shipping is $2 in the continental United States (this is one of the few times it sucks to live in Hawaii) and $5 international (plus Hawaii and Alaska). Will you be picking one or maybe a few?Â

A couple of weeks ago, Dance Party Massacre gave us a sneak peek of their upcoming 2009 winter line. Well, if those tees peeked your interest then you’ll be happy to know that the winter line is now on sale for purchase! You can get them now at Dance Party Massacre’s online shop. What’s even better is that they’re now offering free shipping for all domestic orders and have a sale going on for their ladies tees!
DPM also went out of their way to produce a little short to promote their new line. Alex Dakoulas, of DPM, hooked up with Ryan Gibeau of Rock*It Films, who helped him to produce the short. It’s definitely worth a watch if you’re a horror fan. It looks like they had a great time making the video and it is such a breathe of fresh air to see brands try different things to promote their goods.Â
If you want even more Dance Party Massacre, then be sure to check out Indie Tee Spotlight #9, I got to interview Alex about DPM – it’s a good read!
WatchTeeV is the newest site by the same guy that brought us The Art of Apparel. This brand new site is dedicated to collecting and posting videos that are all about the T-Shirt. Topics range from professionalism, to screen printing to preparing designs. It’s a great place to find videos focused on the tee industry. Although the selection is a bit sparse at the moment, we can expect to see the number of videos rise as the site takes off.
The idea is the brainchild of the members at the tee forum, Emptees, who discussed such a site during an online chat session. Hillman also known as MadeByMas on Emptees, took the idea and ran with it and was was able to do a great job on the new site. Although still in beta mode, users can submit video links that the admin can review and then post on the site. Hopefully I can add some of my videos on there in the future! Check out WatchTeeV!Â
Here’s a great little video tutorial on how to prep your images for screen printing – the essential art of color separation. And of course, whenever a video is narrated by Jimmy Heartcore, you know that it’ll be good! For those of you unfamiliar with Jimmy, he is one of the premier indie tee screen printers, and he also runs his own clothing brand on the side – Heartcore Clothing.
The ustream live shows are becoming increasingly popular amongst the tee community. Kyle Crawford, of Electric Zombie, had a live show earlier today and answered a bunch of questions from his fans and viewers. Kyle is a very eclectic person, as such, you’ll find some useful information intertwined with colorful words and endless rants! In the live show, he talks some about his upcoming line, why he loves MerchNow, music, why he likes AA tees, and why collaborations aren’t really his thing. He also talks a little about why he will not be selling tees over $20 again. The show last about 60 minutes.Â
Kyle also announced an upcoming contest during the live show. Electric Zombie will be having a contest on Friday the 13th in conjunction with the release of his new line. The first 13 people to email him, after the new line is posted on the EZ site, will win $13 via Paypal to go and see the new Friday the 13th remake in the theaters. The 13th person to email Kyle will also win a gigantic signed James Davis print with a huge skull, I Love EZ tee and belt, a shirt or two of the winners choice and a Friday The 13th DVD Boxset!
Linty Fresh’s Eric Terry announced the date for the 3rd of his Linty Fresh live chats. He’ll be available once more, Sunday January 25, to answer any questions you might have live via ustream. He’ll also have a special guest this time around, a friend and SEO specialist. This should be great for those of you wondering how you can best optimize your blog or online store for search engines like Google. It’s a two hour live show, so come ready with questions to ask, bring some snacks and get ready to gain some knowledge!
Eric did a great job with his second Linty Fresh live show! There were about 40-50 viewers watching the live feed the entire time which is a great turn out. For those of you who missed the show and want to watch it check out the embed above. I’ve also provided a transcript of the show below, for those of you who rather not watch the full 2 hours, or just missed a few questions, or just like text better. Thanks again, Eric!
The following Q&A was taken from the Linty Fresh Live Show #2. I had to type really fast so they are not direct quotes. But it’s as close as I could get. Enjoy with tea and a comfy tee!
Is it a good idea to use models for product shots or not?
Difficult to use models every month so very hectic. Can be flexible, time wise, if you don’t use models. More professional to use models and people may be more likely to purchase your product.
What do you use for your newsletters?
I use campaignmonitor.com to keep people in touch. Don’t over do it or it will be ignored like SPAM.
Do you change your style when doing commission work?
Yes, like to keep the LINTY FRESH style for LINTY FRESH.
How do I define LINTY FRESH’s target demographic?
Online: Guys 15 to mid to late 30’s. In person I sell more to the ladies, between tweens and 30’s. Girls less likely to buy things online vs. guys. Hipster scene if I needed to classify it, though a lot of people enjoy it.
