I recently discovered XCVB, a UK based indie brand. I had a look at their offerings and have to admit that I was instantly drawn to Foreign Body. I think it was the combination of odd imagery and tiny text. Speaking of the text, it seems as if come straight out of a noir novel from the 1950′s:
“So as a bloom against her throat his jealousy blossomed. Betrayal cursing through his veins like a pack of red dogs, the hairs bristled along his spine. His faults becoming perfection, his lies in harmony would soon ring true. This false and fevered glare. In vain defense she tried making eyes at him but he had made his own for her as blind as love itself.”
A few months ago, Threadless began making a few changes to their website and catalog of T-Shirts. If you remember, they used to have a couple of different T-Shirt collections, including TypeTees, Kids, Select and of course the basic Threadless tees. Both TypeTees and Select we removed from the menu options (although Threadless continued to sell them alongside their basic Threadless tees).
As of yesterday, Threadless has brought back their Select collection of gourmet Threadless T-Shirts. The select line has always been their premium line of T-Shirts, but in the past, Select tees were curated by the Threadless staff and the designs were specific to the Select line. The new Threadless Select line now features popular and original Threadless designs that are tweaked, modified, “tinkered on, blown up, or scaled back” in some way.
If you remember, a while back, Threadless did a promotion with GiltMan[By the way, GiltMan is invite only so use this special invite to gain access to Gilt Man]. Â They sold premium Threadless tees featuring original designs that were modified in some way. Looks like they used GiltMan as testing ground for their reinterpreted Select line.
The Select line also features premium materials:Â ”Printed with water-based inks, to be softer and eco-friendlier. Made with premium materials, like pima and organic cotton. Tees, tanks, but also tunics and pullovers.” Also of note are the styles made specifically for the ladies. If you’re one of those girls that think the basic T-Shirts is just a guy thing and have avoided Threadless because of this then you definitely want to check out the new Select line. Ladies can now choose from a selection of tunics, tanks, dresses and v-necks.
I’m pretty sure that I learned how to do this sometime during the 2nd grade. Yes, immaturity begins to set in at around that time. And of course, the fascinations boys have with boobs start much earlier than you ladies think. In fact, I remember there being an entire formula of pluses and minuses, complete with a full story. And when you hit the equal sign, you’d get …. BOOBLESS (spelled out in upside down digits). But alas, I can’t remember the exact story that I used to tell when showing off the BOOBLESS trick.
There once was a girl with 69 boobs. (Type 69 into the calculator.)
She had too, too, too many. (Type 2 three times.)
She went to 51 St. to see Dr X. (Type 51 and a times sign.)
He gave her 8 operations. (Type eight and the equals sign.)
And in the end she was boobless. (Turn the calculator upside down it should read, Boobless.)
The latest tee from NerdyShirts reminded me of this nifty trick. And although the calculator on this tee spells out BOOBIES instead of BOOBLESS, it’s still hilariously awesome. Buy one now from NerdyShirts for $19.95.

Wow, now this is a neat little gem of a tee from Flying Mouse 365. This is definitely one of those concept tees that look great as a mock up. Now, if I only I could see and feel the real thing. The print on this tee is huge and probably very difficult to pull off. I kind of wish that the part of the head not on the front would wrap around to the back and so would part of the hair – that would have been so awesome.
The shirt design itself probably speaks more to women than it does men, but I am sure that many of you fashion friendly men that read this blog would not mind one bit wearing this shirt. OFF by Flying Mouse 365 is available now at the Flying Mouse store for $21. It is printed on a white American Apparel tee and the print uses plastisol ink, making it soft to the touch.
I also noticed that the Flying Mouse 365 site has moved away from the limited edition weekly release model. They no longer release 7 new designs a week.
Let’s face it, most of the indie clothing lines online cater to the male gender. Most sites offer unisex tees but let’s be real, those are basically just your average men’s tee and not built for a womans curvaceous body. Unisex, pffft. Enter LadyUmbrella.
This Dublin, Ireland based ladies clothing brand is all about the woman. The brand launched at the end of last month and features an array of designs by Spanish designer, Elena Montes Casado.
“The brand LadyUmbrella came to be as a direct result of the wet Irish weather. Elena, who had lived most of her life in Madrid/Barcelona arrived in Ireland during the dark, wet, winter months of 07 and saw streets laiden with umbrellas. The quantity of umbrellas obscured and hid peoples faces – LadyUmbrella was born.”
The LadyUmbrella line features 6 different whimsical designs printed on 100% pure combed cotton custom made LadyUmbrella t-shirts. The tees provide a nice fitted feel just for the ladies. The designs are very cohesive and work together well as a whole. The LadyUmbrella tees are like little pieces of art, that, instead of hanging on the wall you wear across your chest.
If you’re a lady, I highly recommend you check out LadyUmbrella for your T-Shirt needs. Ditch the unisex shirts and grab a hold of these custom fit tees. If you’re a dude – pick one up for your girl, I bet she’ll dig it.
